Rode a horse today

I rode a horse today for the first time in over a year. Before that, the last time was a trail ride Kevin and I did for our anniversary. Technically, I've been removed from the "equestrian world" for about five years. Just recently, the horse lady who trained me for 8 years and helped me buy my first horse during my youth at age 12, died of breast cancer. I didn't attend her funeral even though I had the opportunity. Even though I spent half of my adolescence at her ranch. I just didn't feel like seeing the strong, confident, vibrant person I had known for the last time as a corpse.
My ass is aching. I think I may start taking horseback riding lessons again. Or at least do a trail ride every week. What a stress-reliever. Plus, the proper way to remember and pay homage a fucking amazing horse trainer. (she was 4 foot-something tall. Awesome to see her manage some of the 17Hand stallions on her ranch. I wonder what happened to all those horses)

Agreed. I don't like those things and they don't like me. They step on my feet and sass back at me.

Many of my toes are still crooked from being broken again and again. I've gotten more injuries from horses then anything else. (well, almost.)

The stallions are the ones that really don't like me. I think they are jealous of the size of my genitalia.

Hell yeah. My Grandma is a horse nut (she owns three) and she's had internal injuries from kicks and all kinds of shit. Her brother (my great-uncle) was killed by a horse kick.

Yes, they're dangerous. I like riding them. And going really fast.

the professor for my summer ag class is also a huge equestrian buff. She made that joke the first day of class...something to the extent of why so many women go into the equestrian field.

Really...I have no idea what you're talking about. I ride horses because I like the speed and power of the animal beneath me. It's exciting.
