FLA: A 23 cm Green Gill

Found in the grass of a library.

The gills on this specimen are more brown than green.
It's stipe measures 20 cm. And the cap measures 23 cm or 9 inches.

According to my field guides, green gills can sometimes have 30 cm caps or more.
This is a poisonous mushroom in case anyone was wondering.
On another note, today someone showed me 3 freshly harvested (from the wild) Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms. So Cube season i suppose is now underway here in southwest Florida.
Everybody please stay safe from the law and angry farmers when you're out there picking.

They are on the side of my house so I just had to print one..
I second the Being Safe statement from above... Great advise from an experienced hunter

Awesome spore print picture! That's a keeper. I've never seen how really, really green their spores are. Of course I have really, really green things on my mind right now...

It's odd... It seems that I start seeing things ahead of season here in San Diego. For instance, I was finding Chlorophyllum molybdites all over the place about 3 months ago! Also, I was finding tons of Pans early in the season, and now they're rather scarce. Weird.
Thats a great spore print photo YESSUP!

The poisoning of chlorophyllum molybdites consists of project vomit and diarrhea at the same time. the stomach cramps are intense and your body feels like its dying. This can go on for sometimes up to a week, when I ate it I think I was in the hospital 4 days. Be very cautious with this mushroom, and respect it.

What the fuck, one time I ate cyanesence and the next day I diaread and vomited. And felt like I was dieing with stomack cramps, I called my group death stuff and they told me if the symptoms continue to the next day to get in.
I am alive though good.

That mushroom is the number cause of poisoning in Florida.
In fact, when I lived in Jacksonville, I espied a whole colony on a lawn. Geting my camera out to photograph them, I kneeled down on the ground and as I snapped a few shots, a long-haired dude came by on his buke and yelled, "those are good magic shrooms, Save some for me later to pick."
Luckily IO knew what they were at the time. But how someone sould mistake them for a psilocybe is beyond me. YEt, the Poison Controll center in atlanta Says they are the number 1 shroom with more cases every year by dumbos looking for a cheap high.

Hahaha, I bet you were thinking "what an idiot".
One of my roomates says stuff like that... I will show him a collection of one species of mushroom, tell him the latin name, say "They're poisonous", and he will then look real close and start poking at one saying "now that one there- that looks like a fun one!!" Then he'll pick up another specimen (again, of the same species) and say "oh no, that one looks baaaad..." Stuff like that, every time I show him any mushroom. I've learned it doesn't matter what I say, he'll still make ignorant judgements.
I mean, this guy tells me "Now the good shrooms, the ones I had in Oregon, they were white- all white, with orange stripes!" He's serious too.
