mixing different strains of spawn
    #579216 - 03/14/02 10:49 PM (22 years, 2 months ago)

im considering mixing different strains of spawn
how does a mycelial network react to contact w/ a different strain?
do they attack each other?
im going to mix 1 qt TC, 1 qt b+, 1 qt tapalpa all millet w/ 1 pint tc and 1 pt tapalpa both brf
should i crumble them all together then case ?
or
crumble and leave different strains in different sections but touching and case?
what would be the value of spore printing possible fruits?
i hope this is considered an advanced ques.
i am a relatively experienced hobbiest, hope someone out there has tried this
peace

I could be wrong, but I think the consensus would be that it's not worth it. It's been reported that they oppose ed eachother. On the other side, I can see your desire to create a superstrain, or perhaps a new train.
Ive never understood the desire to mix the strains. It seems preferable to isolate a strong and potent (sub)strain from a print.
