What is it about the majority of people that stops them from being individuals.
All these things people buy because they think they need them, usually because the person next door has one or it’s the ‘norm’ to have it.

I’m even talking about things like TV’s, Playstations, anything that’s a distraction !

I hate it that there’s some social pressure that makes people think they have to have certain things to be classified as a normal family.
Its like company’s are making all this stuff, then people are spending all there lives working so they can buy them.  Just so they can keep there standards up and fit in with the rest like it’s important.

People worry far too much about how other people view them. To the point that people are doing the same things, following the same trends, Trying to send out an image of themselves that gels with everyone else’s.
This is making the human race very bland and its getting worse, it could even lead to the end of this planet for us.

So its passed through family’s that there’s a certain way to live, this is perfect for all the company’s making stuff for us to buy ( its looks almost engineered to be like that ). They have society by the balls making us think we need their stuff to be normal so we spend all our lives working to give them our money.

Ive been to places where they have nothing but what they need in life. Food, water, friends, and family. 
Those people are a lot happier than we are generally. They live without all these distractions which gives them more time to focus and enjoy what’s important.

I went without a TV for months. Maybe i missed it abit at first but once I got used to not having one, then i got home the last thing I wanted to do was switch it on.
It was only after being took away from things that I realized how much that not only did I not need them, these things were actually having a negative effect on my life.
This is the same for so many things we buy.
We don’t need to buy things to feel abit of happiness, we are best off getting rid of all this stuff and focusing on something more substantial.
These things are not made for our benefits but for the people who have society held, and through greed are taking all our money.

Global warming is being put on our heads a lot, but if these company’s weren’t playing the human race like they are i doubt it would of got as far as it has.

The way the world has been set up is making a joke of its people, and will eventually be the end of us all.

That sucks bigtime !!

These are just my thoughts of today:
This is what started me thinking.



I took that today, notice the trampoline's. You can see two in that pic but the middle house has one too.
It started off as one and now they're spreading !

People are putting England flags outside their houses at the moment because of the world cup.
Last time this happened someone put out a flag, then the house next door put one out that was abit bigger. Then someone over the street put out one that was even bigger still    :rolleyes:.
"sort it out people", if only they could hear me !

( I swear television is used to distract us from the reality of how things are )

I didn't read your whole post, I might after I smoke.


But all I have to say is "evolutionary biology," it's beautiful, it explains things which were previously covered in bullshit.

Some people probably have a biological predisposition to "fit in," and be "part of something."

Beat the biology.

I have to seperate science from the crap companys are trying to sell to us.

Its very important to progress, but half of the things we are sold only hold us back.
Were so used to these things that we think we need them, thats not true.

I hate bullshit commercials, companys methods of convincing us we need stuff.
I hate the way everything looks set up to benefit people i don't even know who don't give a fuck about me unless im giving them some money.

I wouldn't want everyone to change instantly because everything would fall apart, but i think if you can stand up and pull away from it your a lucky person, and you might actually live a fulfilling/better life.

Life is about people. We share commonalities among groups to identify with others in a superficial but functional way. I'm partially consumer driven and I do not mind. Some people just choose to walk a different path.

I think my angst is starting to disappear in droves now....

Life is about people, without TV's and anything else thats a distraction more effort would be put into things like that.

It would lead ultimately to more happiness, ive seen how it works.
Whether i can apply Mongolia's ways to us now is hard to say, maybe were in too deep already.

Given billions of years of evolution, little "life" molecules may eventually assemble into humans. Are we life in its entirity? No.

I hate to go off on something so little, and ultimately I will look like the idiot asshole (don't care, though), but I hate your mentality; even though I have only been exposed to a small portion of it.

Life CAN and WILL BE much more than the temporary genetic stock of humans, it's like Sagan says, "There are more humans which could exist than ever have," with all kinds of variations.

Life is not about humans. See the funny thing about life, is that plants could 'live' without humans. Humans, in all their self-proclaimed glory, cannot live without plants.

This taken into account, one could argue life... is about plants.

Ok. The reason I said I "hate" your mentality is because it struck me as having a general callousness to the mechanisms of things; the importance of balance. I could be entirely wrong, but you seem kind of like the "individuals" we're discussing here.

To say "Life is about humans," can indicate a lot about you, and even your location. What we've done as humans, is attempt to build a "system" which pertains to humans. And this system is all about catering to "human-needs and desires." This system is highly flawed, quite simply, because during its construction the "builders" really didn't have much of an idea about how the Earth works.

People who I would consider "caught-up" in this system are very "Human-orientated."

One thing to think about which should/could really change your life (if you wished to change it, live it however you want, hell you might already be living this way- my flaw is in skipping to conclusions and making attacks based on those conclusions)

consider this...

Sunlight comes down, carbon dioxide is abundant, hydrogen and oxygen mix in the air and fall as water, nutrients dispersed through soil, air, water, etc...

All this was here... plants use all of these things, and produce more oxygen, and food, amongst other things which we use(d).

If it weren't for plants, our "civilization" would not exist, and we wouldn't either.

So although we're quite clever and have spawned forth great achievements... billions of years ago, something knew how to initiate all this.

We are still slaves to DNA... (not for long though, woohoo for biological engineering)

DNA is more powerful than the human, DNA encompasses life, life is about DNA.

I think he meant life in a personal respect.
Obviously we are not the be all and end all in the grand scheme of things, but as we live our lives people are about the most important things within them.
In alot of cases we have people we value more than anything else.

My alliance is to DNA, DNA can make the human, DNA can make an insect, DNA can make plants... blah blah.

Humans are just one possible outcome, DNA is what is truly beautiful... as are its numerous 'mutations.'

Disgusting as this might sound to all the humans, I would feel justified in destroying the human species should it preserve DNA, and thus life in its entirity.

That's an interesting picture. They have filled the garden with expensive play equipment, but the garden itself looks like a building site. You have to wonder how that affects the children playing there.

So how do we change things? It's all very well sitting on the internet complaining, but what can we do?

I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that the majority of people will be followers, you can't change human nature, but as long as they are following the herd, how do you get them to do something constructive?

I'm not sure changing things is the right way to go.
It would be good if we could but were so far into the way we are now that any changes on a national level could severly fuck things up.
Most people seem oblivious to the way things are set up, they can be happy within their lives, so leave them too it. But i do think they're going the wrong way about things generally.

The only way to change has to start with yourself. Be different, think differently, basically be your own person and don't worry if people don't like it.
If your someone who watches TV alot, turn it off and find something else to do. Eventually you will be glad you did.

The nomadic Mongolians have never had the stuff we have, they have never had to change a thing. So for us to change im not sure its even possible, the driving forces behind the way we are are too powerful.

Late reply.

I was not implying that man had any divine right to conquest the earth, and I find it a bit appalling that you would make that assumption based on what I said. People are social creatures, and I doubt I could spend the rest of my life in isolation. I have spent many a mushroom come downs completely in awe of the wonder in my life created by the relationships that I hold dear.

Waving a flag and buying a trampoline is not my idea of 'connecting' with my neighbors, but I am not going to sit and preach to them how to live. Chances are that they do not want to hear it, and I bet those flags and material possessions do make them feel like a part of something regardless of how superficial they may seem to you/me.

I spend a hell of a lot of any given day thinking about the itty bitty building blocks of the universe. Live and let live.
