Things that are important to you

Sometimes I take a lot of things for granted. Some things I hold very sacred.

I have a little shelf in the corner of my room. It is the corner that I have deemed "safest". On the shelf are a variety of things, stones, crystals, my grandmothers urn, small gifts from my uncle and close friends. Above this are flowers from funerals, one for each person past that is important to me, beside this is a very small picture of two shadows on the moon of people dancing. This may sound odd, but these are things that are important to me. I bring all this up because reccently we had new windows put in and in the process the installation guys destroyed that shelf and area. There are things missing, the urn was over turned, the picture broken and the flowers ruined. I've lost somethings that are very irreplaceable. Things that I knew were important to me.

Strangly on another level, I'm about to lose something that I didn't even realize was so important in my life until now, and please hold all the raver mocking jokes (this is the pub) In about 6 months is the last Hullabaloo rave EVER. ok so yeah no big deal, thats what I thought, until I really started to think about it. I realized that if it hadn't been for this one rave company I would have never started partying, I wouldn't be a raver, I basically wouldn't be the person that I am today. I wouldn't have started experimenting with drugs and therefore wouldn't know alot of the things that I know and I wouldn't be here as part of the shroomery community. I wouldn't love electronic anf HHC. I wouldn't know the people I nkow and I think my bestfriends would have been very different. I wouldn't have met some of the loves of my life. I think the way I treated people would be very different. I doubt I would even think the same. I would have been just another product of a boring mainstream society. I've been going to every party this company has thrown for the last 6 years, thats a looooooooooooong time.....shows you just how much something so trivial can influence your life. This is something that for 6 years I've kinda just taken for granted, like it would always be there....of course its always after its gone that you realize, hey thats something thats important to me. I think thats why I have the shelf....I think I realized a little too late that these people were important to me...and I've created something to remember that fact.

There is this old ritual of sorts where you build a fire and set some of your most loved and important belonings in it. There still with you in your heart. Thats what counts the most.

Even though you're losing this thing, you still have most important: how it changed your life. Even if someone dies, or something is taken from you, you still have both your memories, and any other lasting legacies that were left to you.

nice post. but its not the thing i miss most its the memories that could have been that gets me sad.

i got ashelf too, well its the head board to my bed. but it has all the neat things i found outside when i was young, some special family things rocks, bones, plant parts etc from trips i took etc. they are just nice to have around cause everytime you look at them it triggers a bunch of thoughts. thing sliek people are different though, its not so much the memories its just having them around and what might have happened or what you may have done with them. just liek your parties, look at all teh people, but think what you may now miss out on. or dont, kind of a downer.

It sucks when things you think are the best suddenly are about to disappear. especially things that have really good positive vibes for you or something that you enjoyed a lot for a long time.
At least you had a lot of fun while it lasted and there'll be plenty of other things that you'll enjoy as much :heart:
too bad about 'the shelf'. Unfortunately some people aren't carefull with other peoples possessions. Remember that no one can break your memories :wink:

not exactly what I wanted to say but I just can't seem to find the words I'm looking for so maybe this doesn't make sense at all :smirk:
