how to make a pop bottle terrarium?

Hello all -

I have heard that you can cut down a 2 liter pop bottle for a terrarium. I have 3 cakes in their jars right now, but the only way I can grow them is if it would be in a pop bottle because I have a limited grow space. Can anyone tell me the best way to go with this procedure? What do I need to help them grow??? perlite???

I have 1 10CC syringe that I haven't innoculted yet. Since I can only grow about 3 at a time due to my growing space, How long would it take for the jars to fully colonize if I innoculated about 3.33 CC's per jar? How much should I yield per cake??

Search the grow/find links for the poor man terrarium tek. That's what you're looking for. As for the spores, I think you would be best to save them and just innoc with the standard 1cc (assuming you're using 1/2pint cakes). Most people that I know say that more is just a waste because it doesn't colonize any faster.

Try using the large Gatoraid bottles from the grocrey store. (approx 1 gallon)
I had a friend who used coke bottles & 1 large gatoraid bottle & the gatoraid cake blew up. There is a ridge you cut off the bottle and it is indented for easy cutting. look at one & you will see what i'm talking about. Air tight as can be. Follow the poor mans terrarium tek.
