Is this stealing?

Alright so, the story goes my old man moved into a house in the country about a year ago. First thing I noticed when he moved in are an overgrown lawn, didn't think much of it. Go in the house and upstairs the entire cieling is covered in drying racks and ladybugs, not too hard to tell what was going on here. So I take a look outside and find some dead marijuana plants.

This year the entire patch i guess these stragglers were a part of is up in full force, 20+ plants. These are in plain view from the road, right next to the side step but this is a VERY rural area. Anyway, long story short, if these do grow to a maturable size, is it wrong to pick em or would it be wiser to avoid these should the former house owner return? I am not there enough to watch over them, should I decide to pick them when is the best time and what are some things to watch out for that are signs they are spoiled/contaminated? I am in Southern Canada if that helps the picking time. Thanks!

well, if they aren't yours, and you take them, it's always stealing. The real questions are:

is their actual owner able to come get them himself?
would he be all that fucked over by a small theft?
is it wrong to assume he won't, for some reason, miss what you take?

I'd like to think I wouldn't take any, were I in your shoes... but I would definitely be tempted.

I have reasons going both ways, one being, well, its pot, and its a bit more messy if someone gets ticked over losing a large quantity. I don't know what one plant yeilds but im guessing its much more then i regularly have my hands on at any given time.

However the positoning of it there is no way he could sneak in the night and take it without us seeing / hearing him, and without the resources he had inside the house setup there is no way he could cultivate to my knowledge.

I also think I recall he was moving out of the country my landlord/neighbor said, but also had students living with him. However the fact an entire floor of his house was dedicated just to drying makes me think it was much more then this patch, and the bigger the operation the bigger chance of me losing a leg over this I would wager should things go awry.

no no no, the house my dad purchased was formerly owned by the guy growing it, this its now growing at his house. The dude left all his grow op shit on the top floor, along with all his pot-pesticide eating bugs, they are EVERYWHERE and impossible to get rid, urgh lol.

so where are the plants? if theyre on the property you bought then they are now yours. but didnt you say they were dead...

Alright, what I meant by the dead comment was I suspected last year whne he moved in there would be some weed around the house, I found dead ones last year near where this new patch is growing up.

I wasn't exactly sure the etiquette on "abandonded" patches of weed and wasnt about to dig in before getting a second opinion. I'm not really into the "street" scene I guess you would say as I mail order the amounts I do use between me and close friends. Gonna be an interesting and fun experience trying to harvest / dry it all, lol :wink:

Well they are on your property so now you are taking the risk of keeping them there not him. If you decide to keep them they're yours. Let them grow and clip away.

if the property is yours, then the weed is yours. You're the one who's fucked if the cops find it, so for taking that risk, you earn the right to own all the lovely weed that grows.

Do some research and find out how to identify the males from females. Pull all the males so you can get a sinsemilla harvest. Or they will get one, whoever harvests it first.
