Anything you really wish you could cook?
    #5491766 - 04/08/06 01:35 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Everyone has to have something they love to eat, but just cant get right. Maybe its a dish from your favorite restaurant, or something your Grandma makes, but the bitch wont put out the recipe....

You get the drift...

For me, its Tandoori Chicken like they serve at the Indian place down the road. Apparently, to make it right you need a special oven or something...Its so good though.

I wish I was able to cook chicken that's crispy and delicious as kfc's chicken. Not as greasy though. Ugh.

That and asian food. I have a LITTLE grasp on it, but I'd love to be able to make sushi for my friends.

Funny you mention that deliciously curried chicken over rice. I've tried making it on two ocassions, with no where near the success of the Indian joints that I've first eaten at had. Other than that, I need to sleuth out some fine fishmongers where I can buy copious amounts of fresh sushi grade fishes - cause I love sushi!

You can get like, hour old flash frozen vaccuum-packed fish(Vacuum? Weird speling there) overnighted to you any in the world. I'm not sure on sushi, but I bet its good for that. I work for UPS, and we ship tons of this shit all over the place. Its super-duper fresh, from all over. Alaska, Japan, S. America, etc.

Im a vegetarian, but i can make some killer sushi anyway, its actually very easy, if you can get your hands on Nori, which you can usually find at your local heath food stores. There is sushi rice, but brown rice works just as good imo, you put your well drained rice on 3/4s of the nori wrap, add your fresh veges ( i use avacado, bell peppers onions, ect) and I guess fish if you want it on the front portion, id say the front 8th on the wrap, and roll that bitch up, be sure its a tight roll, or it will be impossible to cut it.

Crab Wontons from the buffet at the local "Great Wall" I have tried to make them on 2 occasions but failed to make them taste anything like the ones the restaurant makes.

Im pretty sure henry's might have some nori. I think I could find a roller too. Now that you explained it a little more, doesnt seem that hard at all!

Mmmm. My work sells sushi, and for being premade...I hear it's damn good for what it is. There's also this party platter which has over 50 pieces of sushi. A variety pack of sorts. Only 13 bucks too. Think I might pick some up soon.

Thank you geo! I hate watching the foodnetwork nowadays. Instantanious hunger whenever I see whatever they're making.

Pizza.

I make a pretty good from scratch pizza but Id like the recipes for lots of places from all over.

That and some spaghetti sauces. Some places just have the perfect spaghetti sauce.

Im alot better now with my Asian food. The trick here is fresh ingreedients and no substitutions. Bok Choi has got to be Bok Choi, garlic has got to be garlic, not powder. Stuff like that

I can never make pizza right either. The dough always comes out a little strange.

The oven the indians use is called a tandoori. Hence tandoori chicken.

And I've made sushi before, but it's definitely an art I haven't mastered.
