mushroom found in ny swamp

i found these shrooms in my swamp, they were coming off a dead pile of compost/wood i know its probably too early but i figured i would try

read the rules at the top of this page and post a proper description. A better pic would help too. It is impossible to know what that shroom is right now.

sorry post didnt post half the stuff i said for some reason, let me try again, the cap is hardand has dark edges with a tanish color in the middle, gills are tan-brown and resemble poors more then gills stalks are brown and range from an inch to an inch and a half in over all height.

Likely Polyporus arcularius. Google it to see if it matches.

yea thats what i figured, i thought i would try at least. i live across the street from a cow and horse farm and im sure after a good rain storm and some warm days ill be swimming in actives

I'm not sure it's Polyporus arcularius..I can see some differences in his specimens.. Either way it is a Polyporus, and usually the flesh of these species are way too hard to try and chew. One could easily lose a tooth in the process :shocked:.

It's probably not one of the best places to pick wild active mushrooms - but there is always subbalteatus.
