Are they any good? I was thinkin about the premium. But it seems kinda hokey.

Anyone tried?

They're ok, but the beer is sub-par compared to actually brewing your own (no kit).  Mr. Beer is a good example of getting out of something what you put into it.

That was my first brewing experience.
I thought the beer was great, but Diver is right, its better to do all the work yourself. The end product is usually better, and more enriching.

You can brew some OK beer, but if you really want to get into the hobby, look into getting a proper brewing setup. There are many suppliers of brewing stuff available online. Look around in your area for a homebrew supply shop (or a local brewing club, even). You might pay a little more than an online place, but you'd be able to get recommendations and suggestions from people who've already gone through the learning process.

cheers!

Invest in about 100 dollars worth of equipment and you'll be much happier.
