Ahhh I've never encountered it while flowering. Wouldn't try it anyways because of my experience with dramine and the storys I've heard. blaaah

I have similar reactions to the smell of Datura in that it reminds me of a rather foul trip experience. That was 11 years ago... I started growing it again last summer however the desire to fully indulge has not returned other than a little mixed with tobacco on occasion. It certainly is an interesting and beautiful plant. georgem

Yeah, smelling datura is about as far as I'd go with it. Using it as an intoxicant doesn't seem like a wise idea. Never once have I heard of a pleasant experience.

I guess you guys aren't talking about Datura Stramonium ("Jimson Weed") -- or are you? It shoots up all over the place here in late July, and it smells like pungent cabbage/garbage..
Is another variety used in landscapes?
