dunking seems weird

well I birthed my first ever 4 cakes tonight man they smell shroomey.

anyways on the advice of others here I immediatly am dunking them

all in the same container overnight

after keeping these babies at 79 degrees for 2 weeks it seems like a cold shock to put them in cold water

is tap water ok thats what I used I sure hope so

anyways tomorrow out of the dunking container and into the FC

some would claim the tap water a bad idea, but in alot of the dunking teks I've read they claim tap water is actually better.

I dont have any experience so in that field though so you might as well discredit what I said.

I dunked in tap water.  Didn't have a problem here.  Good flushs and another one going strong. :smile:

Dunk - 24 hour soak in tap water.  Make sure you have something to weigh them down with.  They'll float.

Roll - After soak in water, take out, and roll it around in a big bowl of dry verm.  Try to get it pretty nice and coated.

Yep, 75 will be fine for fruiting.  Make sure you have a 98%-100% humidity rate.  Misting the sides and perlite will do fine.

oh yea dude the humidity is wa high in there

I made one of the poor mans pod type deal with expanded clay and 2 air wands

its so high that its not even registering lol

but def water droplets on the sides

I may need to make some vents to get it down a little

Cold water is recommended for dunking for only one reason-it helps to keep bacteria from growing during the time the mycelium is underwater. Tap water is fine, unless your local water supply is polluted. Many people add 1/2 teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water to the dunk water. I recommend rinsing the cake under the faucet with running water after the dunk to remove any bacteria or slime that develops during the dunk.

I just put about 3 cap full of Peroxide, if I was unsure.  It worked both times, so far. :smile:

Just make sure you don't have high chlorine in your drinking water...

It can cause weird mutant shrooms or at least that happened to me.
