I had a friend work the rails for awhile. He worked something like 14 days straight followed by 4 or 5 off. He made a lot of money for a laborer job but he just fucking hated life. He worked for Burlington Northern, I don't know where you live but that is a mid-west and western united states company.. They have a website someplace, I'm sure you could google it.

Want to build grain bins?
I work a crew that travels constantly, we work 84 hour weeks when there's enough daylight, dusk till dawn if it's not to windy to jack a bin. The pay is insane and we work all over the country. Half of our crew came out of the South Dakota State Pen, they'll give anyone a chance.

Hotels are paid for. Boss will give you cash advances anytime. As long as you are strong and know that nuts spin to the right you should be fine, I'll PM you my bosses number. You'd have to find your way to the job site after that you'd have a ride and hotel 9 months a year. I don't think we have work untill April 1st. We need 8 guys as of now. First we go to Missouri for somewhere around 1 month then we go out to California for 6 weeks give or take a few. Then we'll spend most of the summer in Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota.
I won't be with them untill late summer, I'm taking a leave of absence to go on a hiking trip.

The work is tough, you will do alot of heavy lifting. It's all nuts and bolts and large pieces of steel. You'll be asked to get high in the air and we rarely use safety devices. While building the tank you'll be on 2x12 planks for hours at a time pushing bolts through the seems of the steel or you'll be inside spinning thousands of nuts.

We only get days off when it rains or it's windy, we work 7 days a week. You would work memorial day, labor day, the 4th of July and every other summer holiday.
