1. get kicked out of school
2. get turned over to the police and get the highest sentence possible.

1. This was at about 9 o'clock
2. This was the first time it had gone off in the entire time my roommates lived here (2 years). After constantly smoking cigs.
3. Shady things? Is this not a mushroom forum?

Not here to argue though, so far I haven't heard anything back from the school, usually it takes 2 or so weeks but I'll probably just constantly check up on it anyways.

When the 'world' came down on me in college (over a little misunderstanding related to computer virus research... I, and the college, got a lot of hate mail from mcafee, symantec, f-prot, IBM's Watson research center, etc... long story...) the "administration" tried their hardest to kick me out. I was smart about it and went immediately to the academic affairs people after the first hate mail came in. I explained everything that had happened to the lady and told her what "they" were going to say. I explained to her why "they" were wrong, and what questions she could ask that would show that "they" were wrong.

When the administration took their case to academic affairs, they were majorly pissed that I managed to get there first. They were even more pissed when the lady started asking intelligent questions that showed she understood the topic much better than the people screaming "BURN THE WITCH". By the end of the meeting, the administration left with their tale tucked between their legs, and I left with a smile on my face. I even got a really nice apology letter from the guy at IBM's Watson Reasearch Center. The pricks at mcafee, f-prot, and symantec can all burn in hell for all I care... they remained asses through the entire thing, threatening the school unless my head was taken, etc.

Moral of the story... at my school at least, the academic affairs people were always on the side of the student first, school second. If this is the case at your school, visit them and get on their good side! Show them that you aren't a looser and that you care more about your education than anything else. They know that college students are still young, for the most part, and will make mistakes from time to time. Manage the problem ahead of those that are trying to take you down... don't sit back and wait to see what happens.

Second moral of the story... don't post the disassembled and well documented assembly source code for the various computer viruses that you have collected and torn apart to figure out how they work. Remember, the administration seem to be unable to tell the difference bewteen assembly source code and an actual compiled and working binary. They also seem to be unable to tell the difference between writing a computer virus and reverse engineering a computer virus. Finally, they have a hard time understanding the difference between a working computer virus and a small string of characters that represents the signature of a computer virus used by the virus scanning software.
