ok, i am far from an expert, and this year was my first year hunting, but I can give you a few tips... 1) always be looking, cause cyans are in the most random places... 2) you need to look in alder bark i believe for this species 3) i know this is bad info to give, but if you are like me, when you find these mushrooms you will KNOW the second you see them, these look very distinct, and there will be blue all over the stems, and cap.... 4) check every mushroom before you put them into your collection, cause it is very tempting to just rip these mushrooms right out of the ground in huge clumps, as there might be a lot when you run into this patch.... 5) you probably wont find any this year, but what you can do is start looking at pictures of these mushrooms at: http://mjshroomer.yage.net/species.html also, you can find out what the right kind of bark they grow in looks like, and keep your eye open for this bark, and record where it is, so you can go back to this patch next year... Good luck my fellow mushrooms picker i wish you lots of luck come next year :) -OJAY

I checked out a faithful patch yesterday, and it was actually looking pretty good for this late in the season. The caps were well-developed and wavy. There weren't a ton of fruits, but enough to fill about half of one of those coffee bean bags. Hint, Ballard area :)

I dont know about finding cyans in Seattle but up here in the Fraser Valley its next to impossible. Cedar mulch is pretty much used exclusively here. We do have lots of liberty caps though. I read somewhere that azures grow on Vancouver Island
