Cyans/Azurs and Liberty Caps?
    #7543546 - 10/21/07 04:49 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Well we went picking again today.

We went back to check on our other sprouting Amanita Muscaria. They're popping back up.

Possible Liberty Caps

Checking the area further we entered a wood chipped area (Conifer wood chips) Along the sides of this area where the wood chips appeared much older, and darker, we found two small clusters of blue/black (dark brown originally I guess) white stemmed mushrooms. They stand about 1 1/2 inch( and smaller), to to about 2 inches. The caps are liberty cap/deer cap like. The stems, however, are a lot tougher then any other deer cap or stripped cap in the area. Plus they are white, and have dark black/blue bruising on them. We have started spore printings. These ones appear to be dark blue/purple (Still unsure on which with our crappy yellowish lights)

Summary:

Cap: 1/3 inch in diameter, about 1/3 inch tall. They are bell shaped, and have nipples. Some somewhat closed caps seemed to not have developed their nipples. Color appears dark, bluish bruising inside the caps and along some bruised parts of the stem. (Especially on the bottom root area)

Gills: Dark, little lighter then the cap, somewhat wavy in age I believe, but mostly straight. I believe their attached, as in attached to the stalk if that is what this means by definition.

Stalk: 1 inch - 2 inches (approximately) diameter seems to be about a centimeter thick.

Spore Print:
Dark blue / purple

Edit: I was wrong, the smaller, not fully opened caps still do have nipples.

I will have pictures as soon as my friend is home. Hopefully bluing is more prominent with it's already very dark nature.

____________________________________________

Possible Cyanasence or Azurences? Spelling? Lol...

The second patch we found was much larger, located in mulch/bark in an old garden. These ones were light brown to brown, with about the same colored gills. The stalks are tough, white, and appear to have blue bruising. The rim of the cap also appears to have blue bruising (As blue mixes with the brown of the cap making it appear green/blue) Dark black/bluing along the bases of the stocks, and on damage marks on the stocks (from picking)

Summary:

Cap: All were mature and open unfortunately, so they were fully open, and somewhat wavy. A rich brown color. Unlike the mimics, these stood out with tough stalks, and blue bruising appearing (Or so it seems blue. I mean, from looking at pictures, it's the same sort of bruising, at least in ones with dark black/blue bruising. The rim of the caps had apparent blue/green bruising. I assume the green is from the brown and blue hues mixing visibly (As they create a green)

Gills: Same color as the cap for the most part. Apparent dark blue/green bruising on the gills, and along the bottom portion of the rim.

Stalk: White, tough, not perfectly straight, but nonetheless straightish. Apparent dark black/blue bruising. Especially near the bases of the stalks.

Spore Print: I can't obtain one. It has been raining all day, and on our walk, as well as all the caps are fully open, and spored most likely already.

I will have pictures soon, as soon as my friend is home.

I'm sorry my description suck, I've never had to describe them before like this at all, and my terminology is still off I'm sure.

Like I mentioned. When my friend gets home here in about two hours we'll be able to snap shots.

I'm not even going to deal with my 10 dollar digital camera that claims to be 3.0 megapixels. The color is COMPLETELY off (I can tell because my skin has a purple hue) and it's grainy, and almost impossible not to get a blurry picture.

Sorry, I will get them though. And they should be a bit dryer and more bruised.

Sorry I suck at descriptions, I figured it would come out half assed and backwards or something. :P

I said I didn't want it but you bought it anyway! I wanted the $50 dollar cam!

And I actually was about too, until I realized I left the tripple A's in the camera and now it's dead.... It doesn't have a card, so it uses juice constantly to keep images stored. Then when you do have fresh batteries, and forget to turn the screen off, it's dead in 5 minutes, if that. LMAO.

But there even more prominent blue (Like blue blue, instead of black/blue like before) now, so when Anthony is home, they should be much easier to identify.

Oh of course, we compared. I really have no doubt about them. The spore print is starting to show a bit (Like I said they have spored already, a day or more ago, and it's been raining like a bitch, as well as wind storms last two days (not today))

Also, they bluing is just undeniably blue right now. The stock is not like the imitation where it's brown, and fragile, these puppies got pretty hard and touch white stalks with blue bruising all over them (and on the caps)

________________________________

We don't know what the other ones are. I don't really think they're liberties either, especially with their habitat. But they do appear to be VERY potently active.

Yeah? Well, a while ago you mentioned the spore print was dark blue/purple. Which is it? Dark blue or purple?

Lol... They are blue marks with dark matter (Probably from me pushing them onto the paper to stick before covering them.

The actual watered mark from it's sweat is blue.

Here are the pictures of the Cyanescense

Drying out, they are growing whitish on top, so they are not all solid brown on top anymore.

These are them for sure. You may not be able to tell, but I can see the blue all over the stems and in the caps.

Here are the pictures of the Mystery Fruit

Are these Azurescense? They have the same blue print as the Cyanascense, and the same blue bruising.

Well we'll see how crazy they are. They are active for sure. My friend says Azurescense don't open fully like Cyanescense and retain more of a bell shape (Like these) They also have evidence of being brown before.

So I shouldn't take you literally. Alright.

Also, we aren't going to to die. It's highly unlikely, especially with these blue babies.

They were mature and somewhat old baeos and cyanescence. I found four other large patches of Cyans. (1.2lb) So I'm good for awhile.

Needles to say, both the Cyans and the Baeos were a lovely combination.

A good wet Cyans Tea the next day is a good follow up as well. Made for an excellent time.
