makeshift heater
    #5211908 -

For those of us who live in a cold house( for whatever reasons) a good way to warm up slightly is buy one of those portable coil burners, plug it in and put a small fan blowing over the coils. Works very well to heat a small room.
Is there any flaw to my design besides fire hazard( I keep an eye on it) and electricity costs?

I don't know what kind of coil heater you're talking about but most of them that you see at walmart and places like that, even small ones, usually use ENORMOUS ammounts of electricity.

Of course more clothes is always an option.. But damn I don't care how much electricity is as long as I am cooozzzy tonight. It finally feels good in here, it only took the stove( walmart one like you described) about 20 minutes to warm this place to around 69F
As a side bonus, the hot stove was all ready to take a thick knife hit right off the coil :bongload: mmmm, how's about it.

are you talking about a hot plate? because coil hotplates sometimes tend to burn out pretty fast when you keep them on without anything on top of the coils.

Yes it's a coil hotplate. What does burning out entail? Hopefully not any sort of metallic shattering of the coil in a grenade like explosion of red hot embers...
It just, stops working, right?

probably just stops working. I've never owned a hot plate, I've just read warnings not to run them without something on top of it.

That they do. I live in an older apartment, and that's the only heat I have. Needless to say, my winter electric bill is horrendous. :argh:!
