Spring break brainstorming

So I have spring break comming up here in a couple months, and I've been doing some thinking as to what I'd like to do.
I live in northern texas, and am looking to go somewhere by myself and just chill for a few days. Do some hiking, enjoy nature, read a book, whatever. As long as it doesnt involve a tv or computer.


What I'm looking for is advice as to where I could go. Preferably some place that is within a days drive. I was in northeastern arkansas about a month ago and I loved how it was up there. Drastic change to what I'm used to here (flat as far as the eye can see...and no trees to speak of).
But that's about all I've got.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like you'd like a backpacking trip. I can't think of a better way to escape the world than hiking in a few miles and setting up camp. I'm sure there's lots of parks and recreational areas with hiking trails and places to camp pretty close to you.  :cool:

but your right, thats exactally what id like to do

although...my brother used to be in boyscouts so i think he kept all his shit. i could drive home (8 hours....bleh) and jack it probably.
but that still leaves the question as to where to go. all the parks around here are deserts.
