Here are some un-published, un-named poems by one of the great ones. I thought we might learn a little something from his wisdom.

I am troubled
Immeasurably
By your eyes

I am struck
By the feather
of your soft
Reply

The sound of glass
Speaks quick
Disdain

And conceals
What your eyes fight
To explain

I am a guide to the labyrinth
Come & see me
in the green hotel
Rm. 32
I will be there after 9:30 P.M.

I will show you the girl of the ghetto
I will show you the burning well
I will show you strange people

haunted, beast-like, on the
verge of evolution

-Fear The Lords who are
secret among us
....................................

And I came to you
for peace
And I came to you
for gold
And I came to you
for lies
And you gave me fever
& wisdom
& cries
of sorrow
& we'll be here
the next day
the next day
&
Tomorrow
................................

Well I'll tell you a story of whisky
& mystics & men
And about the believers, & how the
whole thing began

First there were women & children obeying
the moon
Then daylight brought wisdom & fever & sickness
too soon

You can try to remind me
instead of the other
you can

You can help to insure
That we all insecure our command

If you don't give a listen
I won't try to tell your
new hand

This is it can't you see
That we all have our end in
the band

And if all of the teacher & preachers
of wealth were arraigned
We could see quite a future
for me in the literal sands

And if all of the people
could claim to inspect
such regret

forgetfulness faithful remorse

We must try to find a new
answer instead of

Well I used to know someone fair
She had orange ribbons in her hair
She was such a trip
She was hardly there
But I loved her just the same.

There was rain in our window,
The FM set was ragged
But she could talk, yeah,
We learned to speak

And one year
has gone by

Such a long long road to seek it
All we did was break and freak it
We had all
That lovers ever had
We just blew it
And I'm not sad

Well I'm mad

And I'm bad

And two years
have gone by

Now her world was bright orange
And the fire glowed
And her friend had a baby
And she lived with us
Yeah, we broke through the window
Yeah, we knocked on the door
Her phone would not answer,
Yeah, but she's still home

Now her father has passed over
& her sister is a star
& her mother smokes diamonds
& she sleeps out in the car

Yeah, but she remembers Chicago
& grass by the lake
& people who laugh'd
& made her poor heart ache

Now we live down in the valley
We work out on the farm
We climb up to the mountains
& everything's fine

& I'm still here
& you're still there
& we're still around
...............................

everyone has Their own magic
There is no death
so nothing matters
High Style
Flash & forgive me
high button shoes
clean arrangement
love's triumph
everlasting hope & fulfillment
................................

Found all these on the net. I think he was definetly on of the greates american poets of our day.

Yes, I think I would have to agree.
Something troubles me though, deep and unrelenting. I don't know if I would feel this way were I just handed these poems, not knowing their author. I do not know if I love the works as much as the man, the legend. I fear that my love is tainted. Still, in that fear I find comfort, for if I question I may not be truly blind. Reverance is irrelavent if the reverant are blind.

Very true, that is a question indeed. Yet talent holds true through fame or naught. Though increased by the same.

I feel the same way. I LOVE Jim Morrison, and i'll LISTEN to him read his poetry, but I can't read it. It means nothing to me. I wish he'd just spell it out.

i think Jim had a lot of meaning behind his words but the words themselves mean little without his experiences and his thoughts. Its all about perspective i guess.

Also anyone know, "blue bus" in The End, is that referring to being drafted to vietnam or to LSD?

Hemingway wrote stories full of life, not dark ramblings like Morrison. His suicde was late in life. Morrison was totally fascinated with death and tasted it early.

Do you really think that an overdose or any self-destructive activity is not in the same vein as conscious suicide? Both are a pull towards death and a rejection of life.

Sure, he had some moments of genius, but by and large his poetry was not deep nor eloquent.

Therefor, not all suicides write meaningless words. You've just made a counterpoint to your original point.

A fascination with death is not conscious suicidal intent. Morrison did not start indulging in dangerous intake of drugs ("self-destructive behaviour") until later in life (after the Miami concert, most notably). His death was not an intentional suicide, as far as can be told. It seems that he was regaining his lust for life while in Paris.

So then his writings weren't meaningless? What position are you taking exactly? First you say that he didn't write anything meaningful because he was suicidal, then you wiggle around with your words to reposture as though you said, 'well he wasn't a genuis because he was obsessed with death.'

I don't think Morrison was especially suicidal but his attitude was self-destructive. He wanted to push limits, and that is dangerous. Regardless I love his music, and some of his poetry blows my mind. Other is pointless ramblings. Maybe its just a different time and space.

I loved this one:

It can't all be gold to everyone. (Or at all.)

For instance, everyone knows The Raven and The Fall of the House of Usher... but Poe also wrote a whole hell of a lot more. While a fan of his work will enjoy it all, and honestly most of it is quite amazing, it's not for everyone, nor is it all as "entertaining"...
