Soda or Pop?

So I'm from Chicago, but living up here in Fucking Cheese Land.

In Chicago, we refer to our soft drinks as "Pop". But noooo, up here, its fucking "Soda". Soda, to me, sounds like some shit from the 1950's. Or Leave It To Beaver, or something....

So, the basic point is, do you call it "Soda" or "Pop"?

I use the terms interchangably, but I voted "soda", probably because my family moved around so much.......

The state by state variations are kind of strange...We'll have to do another one of thse with water fountain and "bubbler", which is another archaic term they use up here....

I'm originally from eastern PA, and nobody, ever, would say "pop" in reference to soda.

I currently live in the midwest, where everyone says it, and I cannot get used to the term.

It can also vary by region. You go into east Tennessee and west North Carolina, you'll hear some call them "Dopies", no doubt harkening to a time when soft drinks weren't so soft. (I.E. when Coca Cola had real coke in it).
