im right now in the process of trying to buy a condo. i was going to attempt to purchase a home, but i realized i can get more for my money, plus i wont have to cut the grass in a condo. so yeah im making an offer for this one i found. i really want it, but im set in what i wanna spend. im pretty damn excited to own a home. im soo sick of renting .we'll see how it goes down. here are some pics from the realty site.

Sweet! Around here we'd call that a townhouse, not a condo (townhouses are attached side-by-side, condos are stacked on top of each other like apartments). Owning property was the best thing I ever did. Too bad I waited about 10 years too long to become a homeowner! I'd be in much better circumstances if I'd started in my mid-20s. It just seemed so impossible at that age, but now I realize how easy it would've been if I had just done it! Oh well. Good luck on getting your piece of the pie.

Careful w/ the Condos that provide services like lawn mowing, etc...

A relative got what seemed like a good deal at the time, but is now paying 5-600 dollars a month in "Association Fees" for the services provided.

Do your homework....

Around here condo means little compartment in the sky. I would never buy a condo, i want an actual piece of land with a house on it. Not to mention the condo market around here is going to take a massive plummet.

'round here condo refers to a building that has multiple apartment type housings in it that you can lease or own. they range widlely in size and quality.

a townhome is nothing more than a two-floor apartment with the bedrooms upstairs.

in these parts, what KOTT pictured is called a duplex.

yeah it weird..my friend owns a place thats called a condo, but its really just basically an apartment in a building that u can own. no yard or anything, 1 floor. this places is like a small house, its 1,457 sq ft and i get a little bit of a yard and a small deck out back. whats also cool is that im only connected to one neighbor and its by garage. (our garagewalls touch). so unlike a townhome we dont share a wall. like i said though i dont own the place yet...i may have to pick a smaller place to get the price i want.

Damn. That place looks nice. Real nice. Is it an end unit on a row or do they all consist of just two houses side-by-side like that? 1475 square feet isn't all that small either, especially for a single guy. Does it have a basement too or is the basement included in the total square footage?

I understand why you have set yourself a price and want to stick to it, but...

With mortgage rates as low as they are these days coughing up an extra 6K to get something as nice as that may not be a bad move. You can always just turn on the salesman charm and sell a whap more cars in the next while to make up the 6K and whack it down as a lump sum payment at some point.

Condo association fees are key as well, of course, as has already been noted. But as long as they're not outrageous condo fees aren't that big a deal. Typically the more units there are in any given condo project the lower the fees. Where you get whacked on fees is in really small and exclusive condo projects with like just two dozen or so units sharing the load.

Does it come furnished? I know they typically don't, but here in the Dominican Republic condos on the resale market almost always come fully furnished and that can make a difference in the price, too.

VERY interesting looking place. I can see why you're enthused about it.
