Styrofoam Plugs
    #4908002 -

Our company grow Trametes versicolor (Coriolus) on hardwood logs, and the resulting crop, which can be quite phenomenal, is dried and processed into liquid extracts.

During the next three years we have to drill and inoculate more than 300,000 hardwood logs, and, as those familiar with the process will appreciate, this is a fairly daunting task! We re not as fortunate as the Japanese in having "straight" poles, so most of the work needed to undertake this operation is manual.

We are seeking to eliminate as many of these staged processes as possible, and one thought is the use of styrofoam-backed "thimble spawn", currently being promoted by Field & Forest (US) and others.
The process is attractive in that it eliminates the need to plunge spawn into the log and then wax.

It is a fruitless task trying to find a supplier of thimble spawn with Trametes on it, however if anyone can put us in touch with a company (US or Japan) who can make these plugs then we can send cultures for use.

Any help would be appreciated

We have just got what seems to sound like a good deal from Field and Forest. Prefer to grow them ourselves so that we have control of quality, which is important given the "medicinal" application. Tanks for the offers and thanks for the help
