3 part question plus BONUS subtrate question!!!!

Hello everyone. I just recived my spore syringes in the mail today and was just surfing the net to catch up on what I should be picking up in town to get everything going.. I've decided (even though I'm a beginer) to use the 50/50 casing tech. I think I understand the whole process but have a couple questions about it. First, "filter patch bags" are there any substitutes out there that are easy to obtain at your loacal hardware store or Walmart that wont melt in your pressure canner and how would i seal them? The second would have to be about the terrarium. Do you HAVE to have a drip shield if your casing? ANd the third and final question would be, what would be the ideal temp for growing and how much light? Because our house is old and poorly insulated, I might use a nice spot heater with a thermostat.

BONUS QUESTION!!!!!!!!
What temp do I keep my jars at after inoculation?

PS. If all strains have different sensitivity to heat then I'll fill u in with what strains I'm werking with. B+ strain, Thiland Lipa Yai, and Equador.

I don't know about the filter bags, never used em. After Innoculation 85deg(F) will do nicely. Drip shield is to keep drops of water from hitting the children. Contamination will have a much better chance of getting a foot hold in standing water. After birthing,natural or artificial light is a good thing, fanning 3 or so times a day for fresh oxigen and temps of about 75deg (F) will be good for the average Cubbensis variety. Some will fruit much better at higher temps but contamination likes those higher temps too.
Higher temps work in incubation cause it's a sterile environment.

1) There are substitutes for filter patch bags, but they come w/ problems. Check out Hip's Bulk Tek here at the shroomery. It talks about using oven bags, BUT they are much more prone to contams since you don't truly seal them and they can stall out since there is no clean air flow.

2) I don't think a drip shield is necessary at all if you are using something similar to a rubbermaid terr. Then the humidity usually drops enough by the time it reaches the top that no water will drip.

3) The ideal temp for fruiting, I believe, is somewhere around 75 F, but the great thing about cubies is that they can fruit at a fairly wide temp range, conveniently at around room temperature. Little light is actually needed although it won't hurt or help it if it recieves a fair amount. It just needs enough light to start the pinning.

BQ) I'm not sure about this, but I think the ideal temp. for the jars while colonizing is 83 F.

This is a somehow valid statment, altough the main reason is to promote the pin formation using this drop of temp, it's like in nature, when mycellium reaches the surface it enters in contact with fresh air and a decrease in temperature, then it starts to form pins.

How do most people sterilize thier casing then? In the oven, Microwave? Or should I just dish out the 10$ and get the special bags that wont melt in the cooker...
