Popping your fingers

what the hell causes fingers to pop? I once heard some shit that some gas builds up inside the joints and its a bubble popping that makes the sound i know thats complete bullshit wtf is the real reason? can everyone pop their fingers? why do we get the need to.. atleast i do?

When you pull the finger out of place it creates a vaccumm and makes a bubble of air form, the pop is the sound of this bubble popping
