Getting Married, have a question

Hi, I'm getting married soon, but here's the situation... my girlfriend and I are going to get married in a private ceremony and we're not going to tell anyone for about 3 years till we graduate college, then have a regular ceremony and pretend like that's it. Does anyone know of any legal aspect that owuld casue this to shit in our faces, we're both legal age so that shouldnt' a problem. But does anyone konw of a legal aspect that would casue this to become known before we're ready for it to be. Thanks a ton!

I believe you would have to actually renew your vowes. After being married unless your divorced you can't marry the person your already married to. Just let the preacher/minister that does the 2nd ceremony what is going on.

I could be wrong but I believe I am correct.

No, neither of us are embarrassed, it has to due with family issues, and need to be resolved, and will be, over time.

Several.

If one of you is incapacitated (accident, etc), the other has legal guardianship over the other. Hell of a way to have your folks find out you tied the knot. It could make a stressful situation worse.

Tax season. If you're married, neither of your parents could claim you as a deduction if they are doing so now. If they do, and get audited...

If your wife finds herself in a family way....could get real ugly. This isn't meant to stir up pro or anti abortion rhetoric, but have you considered the ramifications either way? One can be exceedingly cautious, and still have an accident...

Credit ratings. If you're both in college, and one or either of you have problems meeting your obligations things could get rough for the next 7 years. If you stay single until after college, even if one of you screwes up your rating, the other can help carry things through on getting a car loan, apartment, home purchase etc.

Just something to think about

why get married?, people stay together for decades without a stupid marriage.. just stay together, and pretend you are, without the vows.

Why must you be married? You're really just paying a priest to sanctify your sex life. I say forget marriage until you're ready to do it in front of everyone.
