Tuna Fish Heater?

As winter comes I have been using my heater more and more. It is a some-what new, gas powered, heater. I've been turning it on every once in a while for 2 weeks now.

Last night, around 1 a.m., I turned it on again and went to open my bedroom door. As I did I was assaulted by a wave of bad tuna fish smelling air.

I turn off the heater.

I walked around the house, took the garbage out, sniffed about the house, and couldn't locate it.

I turned the heater on again this time putting my nose close to a vent. Uuuugh, eeeew, is a good way of describing the scent that was wafting from the vent.

Now why would a heater start smelling of tuna fish? We don't have rats/mice. No one has tampered with the heater...

Any ideas?  :confused:

Clean it ... Mine smelled like that and I cleaned it ... now it smells no more !!

I guess, I called the repair man. I am the 1st person to live in this condo so I don't know why it would be dirty. :frown:
