Yo Blaze! Nice tanks bro. My wife and I are fishkeepers ourselves, except we moved recently and only have 1 tank right now. My wife keeps Tanganyikan cichlids and I've always had a couple of South Americans onhand until the move. I'll ask her for some photos and post them after dinner. So check back later tonite or tomorrow.

Welcome to the Shroomery!
 Cheers!!

Very excellent tank!  I used to have a 38 gallon bow front tank... kept a discus and a few other small fish.  The black gravel with live plants is the exact same scheme I used to use.

I stopped keeping fish a while ago, and now my sister uses that lovely bow front tank for her two rats.  :undecided:

that looks like a great hobby... I would totally do a fish tank with some water plants. Did you start any of the plants from seeds?
I would grow some edible seaweeds and some lotus and lilly plants with fish that like that kind of thing

There is our 20-long filled with rocks and afican cichlids. I can't list the fish, they don't even have common names yet, but my wife knows most of them. There are 12 fish in the tank, and I think I counted 7 in the picture. A pair of them bred last year and we need to find another tank to keep that pair seperated and see if we can get another batch of babies.

Here's a convict cichlid (striped, hiding) and a Texas cichlid in a tank from serveral years ago.

A 10g of mine with neolamprologus brichardi and julidochromus marleri's.

My 29g which has grown a lot and a few additions.. houses 2 pairs of breeding german blue blushing angels now, no other community fish:

My 55g community african cichlid tank got redone into a cynotilapia frontosa tank. These are fairly old images and I can never really get the camera to take the pics right. Wish I had a new one of my 29g tank, both my anubias barteri and anubias nana are flowering which is quite stunning...

Some more great pictures! I love that flower! I've never had luck with live plans, cuz my cichlids like to tear them up. 5 Shrooms for the aquariasts! :-)

neolamprologus brichardi and julidochromus marleri are two of my favorite fish!

I have a brichardi in my current tank (which Gr8fulJ posted above), as well as...

a Dickfeldi Cichlid (julidochromus dickfeldi),

a White calvus Cichlid (Altolamprologus calvus),

a Buescheri Cichlid (Neolamprologus buescheri),

a Gold Sexfasciatus Cichlid (Neolamprologus sexfasciatus),

and six Neolamprologus multifasciatus. Those last six are evil, and are causing all the disruption in my tank right now, and they need to be separated! I have a mated pair, and four of their children, and they just wreck havoc on all the other fish, which is silly because they are the smallest in the tank. This is a pic of the two oldest children:

And they are mean!

I also used to keep a tank of pearly ocellatus (Neolamprologus meleagris) which are small shell-dwellers, full of personality, and even fiercer than the multis, and unfortunately not allowed in the state of Hawaii.

This is a pic of Meeko, my little brother's leopard gecko

And here is pic of me in God's aquarium, which depsite all our best efforts, we can just never match with a patch of water in a little glass tank.

Fist tanks rock, and they provide a relaxing environment, and actually lower the stress levels of the rooms that they are in- 'tis a proven fact. As Gr8fulJ said, we used to have several fish tanks, with I think 5 being set up at any given time. Gr8fulJ gave me my first cichlid tank, and I will never go back! They are such intelligent and interesting fish, and they are so fun to watch grow and interact. I lost all of the fish in that first tank except for the two little multi's and the white calvus due to a broken heater. I have no idea how the calvus survived the hot water, and the two multis buried themselves in the gravel to keep cool until I came to their rescue. It was a sad day, and I'm so thankful to have these fish (and their babies!) with me now. I apologize for the long ramble, but my fish are like my pets, and they mean the world to me. I mean to set up another tank here in the near future, and I'll take some good photos when I do.

Peace all you fishy friends  :sun:  :sun:

Congrats on the beautiful planted tank as well! I used to have a little planted tank, but it grew too well, and then I gave it too drastic of a haircut one day, and it never recovered. I used black Tahitian moon sand in my planted tank, and it looked awesome! Take good care of those little fishies

Calvus are beautiful! I've always loved them, but could only really pick them up "cheap" at fish auctions. Even still they'd be way over $40 a piece at about this size: <------------>

Everyone wants them up here.

Shell dwellers are sweet! I've never had the pleasure of keeping them, but when I worked at a pet place we had a display tank of them. Crazy little buggers.. very expensive too, a lot more than calvus and even frontosa (size wise).

There's this one frontosa for sale at the local pet place, $300, and is smaller than a bass. My "big mama" had a clutch, something scared the bejesus out of her, and she swallowed them all. They clogged her up and she died.

I was scared that the tank had gotten bloat so I had to do an autopsy. /sigh

Plants are tough with cichlids.. the neolamps and the juli's didn't bother the water sprite much at all and it fared better with very hard water and high pH than it did in its natural environment. The anubias pretty much can be adapted to any tank. I've got em all over the place. The barteri make better breeding spots for angels than swordplants, and those kinda suck IMO anyway.

They've gotta stop eating their young or I'm gonna have to meth blue them on a breeding slate w/ air wand. I hate unnatural births like that. The blue blushers get about $3 a pop at dime size around here so I think I'm gonna have to do it. At least they didn't pair off F-F or I got stuck with an infertile male.

My white calvus is a very beautiful and patient fish. When the other fish attack and get all agressive she just sits there and takes it (a luxury of armored fish like her). I thought for sure she'd die, but she just keeps plugging away, and depending on her mood, she can be all black or all white. I just love fish

I got a steal on my little shell dwellers! I got them at the crummiest local pet store that I would NEVER ever buy anything from, but the stupid guy who ran it accidentally got the little multis, and I just had  to rescue them before they died (literally!). They were priced at $35 a piece as fry, and I got them for $9 each because he didn't even know what they were! I ended up with three fish, two males and a female, and one day the bachelor got beaten to death because he did something stupid to the dominant male, and then the two mated and thus we have babies  Really a great story, I know. They are vicious though, and I can't even keep fake plants or real driftwood in the tank because they'll destroy it all. Only rocks and hard resin wood for them!

Nice! What kind of little hoppy friend do you have there? Does he have any other friends in the terrarium?

I WILL have a second tank by this weekend. I keep checking the classifieds hoping to adopt a used tank, but to no avail. This is my last week, and if I can't adopt a tank by this weekend, I'm buying a brand spanking new one. Pictures will be posted later on

heres a full shot of my 46 gallon bowfront tank taken last night..:

I noticed my largest killi fish had a pencil fish half way in his mouth!!( the pencil fish upper body was sticking out and it was fighting to get out!..) so I quickly snapped a shot of it ( not the best shot but you can see it atleast..:

I caught the killi with my net and he released him so i kept the pencil fish in the net but he died shortly after...:
