Mahi Mahi is one of my personal faves, i love salmon but not the farm raised shit, grouper, halibut, red snapper, yellow tail snapper, tilapia is OK i love fish

I had some amazing Sea Bass, or Corvina, in Costa Rica. So succulent and flaky, literally melted in my mouth.
If you're getting fish Coaster try to get to know the fish guy at your local market. Freshness is supremely important so you should find out where the store gets it from, and what the best pieces will be. Don't just go into Target and buy the first slab of salmon you see or you'll be risking getting an inferior product

I usually just eat plain fish with no seasonings mixed with sum white(sweet)corn and mushrooms i have picked that day usually chants or oysters are good. Add a small amount of salt and pepper to it and its pretty good for being so easy to make. Sometimes with salmon i like so wrap it in tin-foil and then put on the grill with butter, chives in the foil with the fish then when the fish is cooked add a squeeze of lemon.

I dont eat carp, mud cat or Tilapia, tilapia because any crappy
trash fish can be called tilapia, there's no consistency in flavor
or texture

Tuna is by far my fave. I won't eat if it is canned, unless of course I canned it. The difference between store bought and home canned is night and day.

When I have the $, we eat fish at least once a week and some favs are mackerel, yellow tail, tuna, halibut, rockfish, dover sole, cod, mahi mahi, opa, chilean sea bass (endangered but amazing), lots of salmon, sardines sometimes, and a bunch of others, but that's all I can think of. Whatever fish is seasonal and local is preferred.
I usually cook fish with lots herbs, paprika, lots of citrus, and it's awesome poached in white wine & shallots. Oh, and ceviche FTW.
Smaller fish that have had a shorter lifespan don't have the opportunity to accumulate mercury like bigger fish do unless there is some unique exposure. Stick to smaller varieties and nom nom nom

I tried to broil some catfish the other day, it was a failure to say the least. I have a huge bag of it frozen, and I just cant seem to eat it. I really dont like eating fried food very often, and I just cant see myself eating it any other way.

One thing I never get why it's popular is TILAPIA. That is a garbage fish to me. It's junk, infact I use it as bait when I go fishing and I fish a lot. I pull them out by the hundreds, they infest waters and hinder other sport fish growth. I also won't eat Carp(too boney and trash fish) or black drum(I always find them with parasites in them).
I love mahi, swordfish, shark, flounder, tuna, and trout.

I was always skeptical of Tilapia because they are freshwater fish. There is a higher chance of getting a parasite from a freshwater fish than there is a with a saltwater fish. I read it on UGA's website, so it has to be true 
Besides, I saw the Dirty Jobs where Mike Rowe was working at the Talipa farm. Those fuckers are nasty. I also know this because I've kept large cichlids before (group of fish that Talipa belong to), they're messy fish and if you don't clean up after them well you have some really nasty shit filled water pretty fast. Who wants to eat a fish that's been breathing it's own concentrated shit?
I just plain don't eat Talipa now.

Whats the worst fish you guys have eaten? Not necessarily bad as in spoiled, just bad in the sense that you didnt like it.
Mine would have to be a whole bunch of bluegill while on a a very long hike through Kentucky, I've never gone through so much work to get such a small meal. I'm also not a big fan of salmon, theres just something about them that I really dont like.

yeah carp sucks really bad but the hmongs eat it, squawfish, pike, gar (though some like it) and bullhead catfish, jack smelt or any of the fish that possibly come with worms in the meat, all have nasty taste or texture to the meat regardless of parasite though.
i ate a lot of reef fish and never got ciguatera(said siggaterra) luckily, but i did watch one fijian guy get it from a giant red snapper some tourist caught out in the deeper reef, thats some nasty bacteria! the guy hoarked his brains out both ends for days.
now i dont know what u guys think about seafood but
in china they raise tiger shrimp (the small ones commonly purchased frozen), underneath chicken cages, and they dont feed the shrimp.
they are fed fresh manure.
i wont eat those again.

Tuna (Best raw or slightly seared)
Salmon (Sockeye rare on the BBQ with soya sauce, ginger and brown sugar is my favorite)
But pink, chinook and the others are all good too.
Herring (canned, ready to eat and flavored are awesome snacks, lemon pepper is the best)
Halibut
Atlantic Cod
Chilean Sea Bass

carp, eel, and catfish are bottom feeders so the tend to live off waste and it's reflected in their taste.
however farm raised can make a HUGE difference in taste and should not be ruled out.

I eat a lot of fish and love to make cold smoked salmon.
I made a batch over the weekend that was out of this world. I take good quality Coho and then cur it a mix of sea salt, sugar and dill. Let it sit for 24 hours-rinse and then slowly smoke over some apple wood smoke with a pan of ice to keep the heat low like 80 -90 degrees for several hours. You can get a product that is better than 35 dollar a pound stuff with this method.
I know it sounds like a lot of work but I have done it for so long that it is my hobby. Plus its fun to be out in the yard and catching a nice buzz while your next several meals are being hammered into existence.

Raw fish is the only way to go btw... maybe some ceviche. Or lightly seared.
But RAW FISH
