I wouldnt consider the opinions against spud "whining"  I think they are simply pointing out that rating a ton of people with one shroom saying "PLUR" in one day...as funny of a joke as one may find it, is a blatent attempt at devalidating the rating system.

And Randolph mentions that one opinion doesnt sabatoge it, and I definatly agree with that.  But allowing it to happen once, allows it to happen twice (which I believe we are even seeing w/ unagipie), which allows it to happen as many times as one feels like, until it seems pointless to rate anyone at all. 

I dont think anyone is real bummed out about the one shroom rating, the people who have voiced concern seem secure enough with themselves that a one shroom rating isnt going to truly upset them. 

I think the issue lies in...Why have them if they aren't used in a genuine manner.

From reading around it appears that people like to see what other people say about one another.  One suggestion could be to just rid the shroom rating system but leave the ability to comment.
But I understand that that probably wouldnt be the most agreed upon opntion

Yes, that is my objection.  My rating itself is NOT the issue.  The issue is whether the rating system has a purpose.  If so, there should be some rules about its' use.  If not, then get rid of it.

I like the idea of comments as opposed to numerical (shroomerical?) ratings.  :thumbup:

If everyone is allowed to use the system to play adolescent games, it is pretty useless.

i tend to abstain from entering OTD but lately i see stuff like this all over the BB that makes me wonder what started it... so i go to OTD and sure enough there's a thread some idiot started and thought it was funny if he rated everyone with "PLUR" (WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT BTW?) or some sort of drama about people getting banned or some guys thread gets jacked for something he said in OTD... etc...etc...

don't people have anything better to do with their time?
seem's like all they're after is making them selves look "cool" or "witty" or whatever just like a bunch of middle school kids!

but yeah i guess it's pretty pointless to even complain about it... we can't make people grow up... i think i'm gonna start using the ignor option...
