What kind of vibes does shpongle give off?

I'm planning on taking my first blotter this weekend at 12 in the afternoon. I got my mp3 player charged, and i hear shpongle is excellent. I heard it sober.. and it seems sort of creepy, like it doesnt seem like good vibes music.
Obviously things are different tripping though.. how is it? I want good vibed music that takes me to other realms in my head.

PS i dont like pink floyd or other older music (ie doobey brothers). When I'm sober I like Muse, incubus, paul oakenfold, ATB, etc. I dont know if that helps at all.

it is rich and diverse... like walking through a rainforest...

if you like trance, oakenfold is pretty good... I've had great trips to Fatboy Slim's "Live from Brighton Beach"...

I'm just not sure about trance tripping. I love it sober, but i'm guessing it might be to 'busy' otherwise.. like too intense. in short bursts i will def listen to it.. but im just making an assumption too much tehcno would be bad. Thats why i wanted to have shpongle.

Whats the best good-vibed shpongle ablum?

I know what you mean, but I think it's a lot cooler when I'm tripping than the other way around. If you want to see something "busy" when you're tripping, look at a National Enquirer. It'll blind ya! :lol:

Well put. Shpongle takes me to magical places. From the tops of misty cloud drenched mountains to lush green crawling rainforests. From arid and raw sandy deserts, to moonlit beaches with a salty smell.

  It's definately different and a bit 'out there' but I wouldn't go so far as to put it as 'creepy', it seems to have a curious sense to it.

Hope I could help, I'm not very good at wording things right sometimes.  :crazy:

EDIT: As for the best album they're all good and different. Are You Shpongled: has a good tempo and some good beats.
Tales of the Inexpressible: has a slightly more exotic touch to it.
Nothing Last but Nothing is Lost: Well I've only just recently recieved this album and I'm starting to thoroughly enjoy it. Takes it all to a new level.

Listen to a little bit of everything. Music is expression of feelings and you should experience and relate to all types of music when you trip and find what you like most.

I find that hardrock/heavy metal exhausts me and has too much anger in it, PHISH just builds up on itself beautifully and lets loose, and I haven't listened to floyd yet cause I don't have the balls to do it. I hear its better for LSD anyways.

I'm thinking the album American Beauty by grateful dead would send off very good vibes.

I've recently been listening to Talkie Walkie by Air. some of they're trance/techno music is great!

Music really will guide the trip in a specific direction. I have had INCREDIBLE experiences listening to one of the Oakenfold 'Another World' cds. I was out there... on the edge of a beautiful cliff overlooking my town, but my eyes were glued to the incredible starry sky. I never felt so in touch with the cosmos in all of my life. I was travelling through their substance like a kid jumping through a spider's web. I was in absolute awe. The music provided the backbone for that almost transcendental experience. It stretched my mind as far as it could go and this was only off of ~20 g fresh of PF Hawaiian.

Shpongle just makes me smile. It reminds me of the infinite diversity of the world. It is perhaps the most creative music i've ever heard anyhow, but it IS MADE TO BE LISTENED TO ON TRYPTAMINES. PERIOD. It has only gotten creepy for me once, but that was only one track on i forget which album. I feel like shpongle is orchestrated so that the listener experiences every region of his mind. For me, they defintiely succeed in that respect.

The only incubus song that I really liked was Aquaeous Transmission (sp?). That took me to a nice place too.

If you're after something that will REALLY boggle your brain while tripping, try listening to Infected Mushroom! It's quite manic but a lot of fun to listen to. That stuff really is designed for use with exotic substances :smile:
I would recommend "I'm the Supervisor", as personally i dont find it to be as chaotic as some of their other work. "Classical Mushroom" is a good album too!

I downloaded a Shpongle album to see what the fuss was all about, but it just isn't really my thing, has a strange latin vibe to it, and some tribal malarky going on. I prefer to just listen to what I like anyway, Happy Hardcore is great when trippin, some drum and bass and ambient stuff is cool too, can't listen to gabber when shroomin' tho, too dark and hard.

you should try some more of the mellow stuff on morning view and A.C.L.O.T.M.

though i realize that a lot of people dont like them becuase the music requires you to put a lot of thought into it....

The fact that one of Posford's earlier works was titled "The Lone Deranger" might be a hint.

Have you considered Indian (Hindu) music? Many people find that spiritually uplifting.

Shpongle is my favorite band while tripping. Simon Posford is a true musical genius imo. I /cry that Shpongle is supposedly only making the 3 albums they have so far:( Simon is still making music obviously, but Shpongle is unique. If you haven't heard Shpongle while tripping, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Infected Mushroom is awesome too, but they are a little more intense than Shpongle imo. Hallucinogen(Simon's new band) is also very good, and I eagerly look forward to their next album.

Shrooma: That was worded beautifully.... and I completely agree with all of it.

I have seen and experienced the wildesty and most amazing things while tripping under the influence of Shpongle.

I find 'Are You Shpongled' to be a very psychedelic CD... probably the most "electronic" of the bunch. Very incredible... full of different tempos... ambient downtempo to fast rhythmic samba drumming. Very mystical.

I find 'Tales of the Inexpressible' to be more "earthy"... More ethnic. There are so many different musical stylings, everything. It is probably the most beautiful or reightous Shpongle album in my opinion. Around the World In a Tea Daze is the Odyssey and Iliad of Shpongland. Wow!

Nothing Lasts... But Nothing is Lost... by far the most "out there" cd. I call it "alien music" because it incorporates SO MUCH different instrumentation and vibes and feelings into that it is truly other-worldly. Imagine a FAR more spiritually and technologically advanced alien species from some far off galaxy, landing on Earth and awarding us (for god only knows what reason) with a CD to dance to, trip to, laugh to, cry to.... etc.... tyou get the point. (maybe it is because it is new.... and I haven't memorized every second of it.... but this album hjas been blowing my mind these days)

With all that said.... try it out!

I don't find them creepy at all... they are magical, mystical, out of this world.... which could easily be intimidating.... but allow yourself to fully flow with the drugs and the music... and you will be changed forever and for the better.

Once while I was "freaking out" a bit on mushrooms, I got totally overwhelmed by the music... so I turned it down and it was a-ok!

incubaby - yeah i changed it. I did that thing where i meant to write incubus but I was thinking of pink floyd for some reason and i wrote pink floyd instead by accident.

Underhillmaster - You said simon's new band is Hallucinogen (more of a DJ name then a band) but he has actually been known as Hallucinogen (1995) longer than he's been known for Shpongle (1998). Check here http://www.shpongle.com/hallucinogen/life-who_is_si.htm under his groups.

I listened to "Nothing Lasts... But Nothing is Lost" during my last trip, and agree with the others who've posted. It sounds very alien. It inspires visions of stars, space, doorways to other dimensions, colours and abstract patterns and it all seems to make sense in some unusual way... It is a work of art.

If you smoke some weed too you'll even be able to hear all of the little hidden bits including the voices and conversations saying things that you probably would otherwise not notice. The music has so much depth and works on so many levels; a true work of art.
