the biggest of all the nova scotia picks today.

some nice pan subbs. picked a few wet ounces. the rain kicked the compost into high gear. i actually seared my hand till it almost blistered on the bail of straw this large specimine i posted grew on, it was actually smouldering and smoking. many bales were hot, but this one looked like it was about to go up. i even went and got the farmer, he said he never saw anything like it. there were wavy heat lines around it.



the real gems are the libs. they were growing quite nicely in the sedge. not too many in regular grass. perhaps in the comming weeks. i only found a few clustered enough to make nice pics. but some i actually found underwater. the flooding was so extensive, there were spots were libs were peeking out of puddles.


i could have picked many more, but my back started to ache and i was tired from walking. i was pretty much swimming through seas of sedge NEVER wanting for a patch to pick.
but like i say, i got tired, ill go back another day. im SURE theres a few more weeks in the season.

heres about 500 libs

here they are drying alongside of pan subbs. yay.

i also saw a fox. it was one of those bastard phase foxes with he saddle pattern. oooh.

Nice, very nice. I have seen rotting limbs smoking. you could see smoke going up just like somebody has a fire, but no fire.
The rotting branches get hot, I've never seen the heat lines tho :eek:

Very nice mitch.

It seems here in Newfoundland the season has hardly even started. People have told me wait until the first frost.

I'm not sure if we have even had that yet but today I went out and picked about 30 nice sized liberty caps, just got home actually before reading this post I consumed them all :smile:

first frost nothing, libs have been up in NFLD for over a month,
the frost thing is an old wives tale.
