I dunno man, i have only tried to dry amanitas once back when i first started looking for psilocybes. My theory on the maggots is that they are so fucking huge and fleshy that they just cant dry fast enough and the maggots just naturally form because its a dead moist decaying place for them to be maggots. Air drying them doesnt seem to be a reasonable way to dry them, i suggest another teq, or just use them fresh. I never wanted to eat them but i thought some gnarly dried caps would be a cool decoration for whatever.

It's natural, almost all amanitas have worms inside.. You just have to cut them to pieces and put them on a fishing line or something with a needle. Then put this above a source of heat. At least this is what I did and all the worms fall down!!! Cool!!

I see trees of green, psylocibe mushrooms too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

Hello my name is jeff I have read many of your postings on shroomery.com and you seem very knowledgable- you might be able to answer a few questions that I have.
I have collected a few pounds of Amanita Muscaria just last night. I had introduced myself to mycology last year and have studied ever since. Although, this is my first harvest and I know that their are other amanita that look similar to A. Muscaria such as, A. Verna, A. virosa, A. Phalloides, A. Ocreata. Is the Amanita Muscaria the only one that is red? How can you be certian that you have a A. Muscaria rather then one of it's poisonous family members?
Also, do you dry it or do you just make tea out of it? Is there a right way to prepare it?
I have been reading as much as iI can get my hands on, but if i had read something and it was unclear or if i misunderstood something it could be fatal. I just can't be settled until other's experiences corrilate with my reading. I don't know how long I can keep them before they go bad but i will check my email often.
thank you Jeff
