running firefox (debian package 1-04) on debian and it seems to be screwing up quite often, jumping to the top of the page, etc...

if you could make the pop-up have a scroller in it, and so only be the size of, for example, this post box, but with a scroller so you can view the content of the first post without clicking it...

although is it really that much trouble to just enter a thread and read the first post?

I'd like to add my voice to the chorus. Make it an option or turn it off completely, this is dumb. I have just similar complaints as everyone else. It sticks, it covers the screen, the delay almost seems randomized.

Turn it off, do your beta testing in private.

Hmm. On different computers now than I was before, and it seems to be working on these.

It IS pretty cool, better than the old one, it seems. If only it worked at home!

This thing does not function consistently enough
across platforms and browsers for it to be put
into production on this site.

Personally, I believe that the original was much
more effective, less intrusive and achieved the
desired results.

This is huge, awkward, buggy and only occassionally
functional.

Please change it back.

Are the mouse-overs loading slow on dial-up? I can rarely get one to pop up at all here in Firefox.

Their behavior in Firefox is sporadic, at best.

Even worse on netscape or older IEs.

This is the type of feature that causes more pain for
the have-nots than it creates benefit for the haves.

I liked the original incarnation better.

It was effective and benign.

If ultimately its going to be left up can there be an option to switch it off? I really find it distracting and rather annoying even when it is working properly. Its a neat feature to be sure but its more a novelity and when that wears off, and it will, then it'll just be uber annoying

I agree 100%. It's a cool feature if you want it. It's also a pain in the ass if you don't.
I'd say remove the damn thing until you can fix it so it can be turned off by the users.
BTW... I'm in the "It's a pain in the ass" group!

I like it when it works, but it almost never works for me.

Have a 'Classic' or 'Enhanced' Mouse Over option in the display prefs. Maybe it can be made compatible for all in the future.
