Taking a Couple Kratom Cuttings
    #4748570 - 10/03/05 11:05 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

So my Kratom tree is REALLY taking off. It came to me with four leaves a month ago and now has about 15. There are two sideshoots coming off the main stem that I'd like to remove to allow it to grow straight up instead of bushing out. There are probably 3-4 sets of leaves per side shoot. If I let it go at the current rate, I will have a fat and hard to maintain plant.

Usually when taking cuttings, I find that the youngest growth (small stems) will root the fastest. These kratom sideshoots both have pretty hardy, thick stems. My plan is to cut them from the main stalk, immediately place them in water where they'll stay for ~30 min. I'll then hold them in some Hormex rooting solution for about 2 minutes per shoot, and place them into a 40%perlite,60%mixed soil medium. I'll then make a humidity tent for both and keep them under HEAVY humidity.

I've read that spanghum moss is a better rooting medium that what I had planned. Anyone have any input on how I'm going to do this or any tips?

Keep them warm, put them under a fluorescent light and introduce fresh air 1-3 times a day.

are the branching from the base or up on he plant? If its low to the base, slash the braches then add soilt to cover the bases of the braches. Within some time they should hopefully root and be able to be removed.
