Christmas and Mushrooms? how are they linked?

according to James Arthur's research, the tradition of putting christmas presents under a christmas tree was formed from the frequent tasks of shaman's (even shaman's closely related to St.Nicholas, linking this back to christmas) who were sent out to gather sacks full of the Amanita Muscaria (spiritual / magic mushroom) that would grow under the boughs of Coniferous trees after a night of rain / dewwing. The moisture would cause the mushrooms to grow under the coniferous tree, as this is the tree in which the network of mycelium usually was connected to. So around christmas time, the rain would bring these spiritual mushrooms, the shaman's would fill their sacks, dressed in traditional shamanic robes of Red and White (hence, Santa's robe). I am in NO WAY an expert, a philosopher, or anything like that, but i have been reading alot about past links of religion and culture to mushroom use, and i thought that this was interesting. ask your self, why the fuck do we put presents under a coniferous tree each year? this would help to partially serve as an explanation according to extensive research from entheomycologists, such as James Arthur.

Some interesting concepts there...

I won't comment on the accuracy of the concepts, because I have no idea...

However, I have seen many connections drawn between Christianity and mushroom consumption. I think it is very likely that psychedelic compounds were an essential ingredient in the development of just about all modern spiritual belief systems.

I could be wrong here, but didn't St. Nicholas originally dress in green until the Coca Cola corporation redesigned him wearing red and white for use as a marketing tool? That's what i was told anyway...

In Terence McKenna's book Food of the Gods, he suggests that Christianity was developed by dominator-style culture as the result of a LACK of consumption of mushrooms and other spiritual sacrements. I think, given the nature of Christianity, that he was probably right. While i definitely agree that psychedelic compounds are likely to have played major roles in the development of many spiritual belief systems, i'm rather curious as to the connections you mentioned between mushroom consumption and Christianity in particular. Could you give a few examples of what you mean?

One time when I was tripping my whole field of vision filled itself with red crosses like I drew in this picture. So now I have a tendency to believe that mushrooms and Christ are connected in some way.
