Amazon says the battery life for both of those are 14-16 hours...do you think that's fairly accurate?

I get about 15-20 hours from my iriver h340 w/ mp3 and 10-16 playing .ogg

Ok I decided on the Sony Network Walkman HD5.

Anyone have any experience with this?

CNet rated iPod and the Sony at the same score. The Sony has the advantage of having over twice the battery life and a better interface, albeit not so great software.

Although I dunno...maybe I should just get an iPod. Fuck.

I was looking at that too. It doesn't have any features like FM radio or line-in built in does it?

the new iPod nano is pretty intense. if your wallet can handle it, go for the 20gb iPod. the reliability is worth the extra dough. ive had one for a little over 2 years, and it still runs smooth.

true. the nano is basically for tech junkies who need the latest of everything.
but with that said, i switched to everything apple about 4years ago and have loved all they offer. it may be pricey, but with a killer resale value its worth the investment.

the battery is not user-replacable

So technically you're right, but seems like a pain in the ass to have to send it away to get a new battery.

with the creative zen you can replace the hard drive with a laptop hard drive if you decide you want more storage

I'd avoid Sony.
get an iAudio or iRiver.
ipods are not crap - they actually are decent players.
but there are better players with richer features (such as the iriver or iaudio).

ipods are crap because they play MP3s which having significantly less quality than CD because of data compression. Yuck. At least if you get one use the loss-less compression mode because those little files really mess up the sound.

I just bought a Sony HD5 two days ago. You will be happy. You can't go wrong, it's a freaking SONY. Best sounding music I have ever heard.
