leaves going black
    #4674811 - 09/17/05 05:20 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

Hello im new to the forum.
I thought that you people could help me with a problem i have. The leaves of my seedlings are going blackish on the tips and are starting to droop. Humidity should be ok. I applied some fertilizers yesterday but with caution. Until now they have grown very nicely, three true leaves on most of my 12 plants but suddenly this. I would be grateful if someone could give me advice.

Hmm.... Me and some others here have noticed brown edges on our novo leaves, but I have never heard of anyone having black tips.

I'm afraid I can't give you any advice, but I thought I would just reply so that you know that we're not ignoring you!!

Can you get a picture..? That would help.

(And welcome to the Nook )

You might want to spray them with a strong fungicide, because your problem might be some sort of rot. Unfortunately there is not much info available on how to grow these plants :frown:.

Thank you for the reply.
Today i noticed that the veins of the leaf are turning black also. I think you are right about the fungus attack. I have the plants in small cardboard flower boxes and the outside of it is totally black of fungi growth! It seems that the plant takes in some fungus via the roots and thus turnes black =( and i have no idea about where to buy fungicides here up north. I have checked some plant nurseries but without much success =(

Yeah!

After repotting the plants they started to rejuvenate slowly but steadily. They seem to enjoy the pinchful of Rhododendron fertilizer I added to the soil mix. Ordered me some Chinzol fungicide from the UK just in case it re attacks. Now the little ones are making their 5?th leaves and things seem to be going very well! Thanks for your advice!
