    #4654476 - 09/13/05 11:01 AM (18 years, 5 months ago)

i live in eastern south carolina and spent the summer hunting on local farms...i havent seen a trace of any cubes on the field i usually go to but then again it hasnt rained for about 2 weeks, i was wondering if this hurricane should bring them or if it is to late in the season...right now it is about 80 degrees w/ 78% humidity very cloudy and very windy

I dont think the season is over just no rain means no humidity means no cubes or very very few......i am awaiting rain so the cubes will flourish again, i live in columbia and i have picked cubes in december but after that it gets to cold till march or so .....

This season is indeed over. But fear not, the Fall season will come soon and more shrooms will grow.
I think that i should note that this year has been particularly irregular because of the mega-thrust earthquake and the resulting tsunami. There was much late freezing so the spring season never came (at least not in Texas or Georgia). The summer season lasted through August, so we don't really know what to expect.

No, cube season is actually in full swing, just a little slow in light of no rain...at least in northern florida. I have found cubes through december, but have had some of my biggest pulls in November. Keep looking and wait for rain...also check near tree lines and wooded fields as humidity is usually higher.

Yes, i know well that cubes grow into late Fall. I was only commenting that the summer season has left and the Fall season will soon start (which is a good thing because Fall brings more fungal growth than the other seasons combined).
