psychomime's procrastinating thread
    #4632993 -

its 10:24pm and I have an assignment due tomorrow on the Ideal Free Distribution of Foraging Ducks for 1'st year biology. all I have done is two graphs. looks like it's going to be a long night. any procrastinatory assistance/(im)moral support would be appreciated.

Procrastinator's Creed

* 1. I believe that if anything is worth doing, it would have been done already.
* 2. I shall never move quickly, except to avoid more work or find excuses.
* 3. I will never rush into a job without a lifetime of consideration.
* 4. I shall meet all of my deadlines directly in proportion to the amount of bodily injury I could expect to receive from missing them.
* 5. I firmly believe that tomorrow holds the possibility for new technologies, astounding discoveries, and a reprieve from my obligations.
* 6. I truly believe that all deadlines are unreasonable regardless of the amount of time given.
* 7. I shall never forget that the probability of a miracle, though infinitesmally small, is not exactly zero.
* 8. If at first I don't succeed, there is always next year.
* 9. I shall always decide not to decide, unless of course I decide to change my mind.
* 10. I shall always begin, start, initiate, take the first step, and/or write the first word, when I get around to it.
* 11. I obey the law of inverse excuses which demands that the greater the task to be done, the more insignificant the work that must be done prior to beginning the greater task.
* 12. I know that the work cycle is not plan/start/finish, but is wait/plan/plan.
* 13. I will never put off until tomorrow, what I can forget about forever.
* 14. I will become a member of the ancient Order of Two-Headed Turtles (the Procrastinator's Society) if they ever get it organized.

 It's uncanny how much of that creed I followed without even being aware it existed.

hehe try stretch that to 4 pages! it's actually all about how animals distribute themselves based on the resources available at two different sites. ideal free distribution predicts that the ratio of foragers will equal the ratio of resources available. that never happens in practice though because the idea is based on the assumption that the ducks have perfect knowledge of the resources available. However the distribution does follow the trend predicted. hey I should cut and paste that!

=D

So how much is the assignment worth? mine is 20%, and it is 3rd year level... so essentially that means I am fucked regardless of how much work I do. you?

my fault for not going to lectures though. at least I will still get some marks for it... I have been working on it for a while.

so what's your degree? marine biol or something?

also, I imagine this thread might get shafted to OTD

nah, OTD is for the super offensive scat merchants. this thread follows the pub rules (AFAIK anyway).

Doing a B.sc. Chemistry and Biology majors. looking at getting into microbiology or biochemistry. gotta do this course as a prerequisite though god knows why. I couldn't give a crap about conservation and ecology. (although the evolution part is really interesting)

for anyone watching the exciting evolution of my project from mere thought to mighty word, you'll be pleased/indifferent to know that the introduction is complete, the methods section is well under way and I've nearly made it to the second page. try not to injure yourself with excitement.

here's a (not terribly) good poem I wrote whilst procrastinating. (ok admittedly it was while procrastinating for something else entirely, but the time spent writing it out again wasted a good minute or two)

ahem....

For Libby

One hand giving, the other receiving
All the while, the eyes deceiving.
Lips to skin to taste what's real
A burning kiss to bind and seal.

Two lost souls on a sea of tears
Hoping love will soothe their fears.
No room left to lay the blame
A happy smile to hide the shame.

No Embrace to set things right
We're left to brave the lonely night.

(and bow)

thats some mofo'n iambic pentamater right there! well almost. we now return you to our regular programming....

well the lack of sleep is starting to kick in. still no further in the project. all the letters are starting to blend into each other and I have this feeling like i'm about to leave my body. that can't be good.
