Firefox, Thunderbird and Debian, oh my *fixed*
    #4579128 -

I have a persistant issue now that I have upgraded from firefox 1.0.2 and thunderbird 1.0.1 (I think) to now firefox 1.0.4 and thunderbird 1.0.2 on debian.

when I click on a link in thunderbird it will either open a browser, then immediately close it or if there is already a broswer open, it will bring up the profile manager, after which it will also close upon any button push (I can't even create a new profile).

when thunderbird opens a link, it is set to refer to /etc/alternatives/x-www-browser which in turn, points to /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox-bin

I've tried removing the profiles and creating new ones (for both thunderbird and firefox) but the most I can get out of firefox after spawning a browser is the page loading, THEN closing...

any ideas?

or any ideas on where/who to ask?

as it stands right now, I'm copying and pasting the links.
oh yeah; I can't download files either
/me cusses at apt-get upgrade

You might want to try the MozillaZine Forums. It's a good place to get answers about all things Mozilla!

Ubuntu != debian. Alternatives is a debian thing, iirc. It may or may not be part of Ubuntu.
