?Fafsa?

anyone else do this? i've been going thru it, and i have finaly got it submitted, but have to send my parents signature in, but i dont live with my mom, and she's not going to have anything to do with me going to school, but for some reason, they still need her info..

anyway, after they accept it, how do i use it? i know i'm elligable for aid cause i filled out one for last year, but didnt use it cause i get some reimbursement from work, but now i dont have as much cash as i would like to just go that route, and use fafsa... anyway, do i just show up and be like "yea, check my fafsa instead of me paying?" or how does it work...

also, does it work for books and such? someone said it did, but i'm not sure i can trust him... if so, since i had one filled out for the previous year, can i get re-imbursed for my books i bought in spring 05? since i had my application in by then? or huh?

fafsa wont nescassarily give you all the money you need for your schooling. My first year my parents maybe average money, we're well off, but not rich, and I got about half of my schooling paid for by the college (along with having good grades, awesome sat score, ect). My mom passed away from cancer last winter, and when we reapplied, I got like 3 thousand dollars more.

I don't know if you can use it to pay for your books. I know mine automatically goes towards my tuition.

if you are using it for the fall semester you are too late

it needs to be turned in in like april or may or something.

My girlfriend has her school paied for, although it is a community college, also she got a 200 book check (which isn't enough).

Overall, with one scholarship she is getting like 500 bucks living money a semester for the next year.

i guess...fafsa where I am [is it the same?], is only for tuition and not even all fees are covered then. Most schools get sent the information by highschools for freshmen, but I'm sure if it is not highschool related you would have to give them the number and probably photocopy, etc...to get it filed with that particular college. But not 100% positive about it.

When I went to college the first time around, I filled out fafsa forms and didn't qualify because my parents had too many assets (farmland). I started to fill out fafsa forms a second time when I thought about going back for another degree and then I said "to hell with this crap". I'm guessing I will probably attempt to fill out another one someday too. What a pain in the ass...

Just go and talk to the Finacial Aid people at your school. They will tell you everything you need to do.

For me, what I had to do was go online to the school system website and fill out a form saying what bank I want to get my loan from and if I want to borrow the full amount that I am capable, or only part. Then after the bank gets everything filed away I just go online every semester and "accept" my loans via the school system site.

Once you get situated with the bank it's easy, and all you have to do is each semester let them know you want to keep borrowing money.

You can submit it online so there's no need to mail it , http://www.fafsa.ed.gov .

I don't know your situation , but those bastards won't give me shit. My family isn't rich or anything either , my mom makes like 25 a year and my dad is on disability.

I live in my own damn apartment and those fuckers won't let me claim my self as independent. The reason they gave me is I'm under 24 , I'm not married and have no children dependent on me , and both my parents are still alive. So since I meet none of their rediculous requirements they automatically assume I'm 100% dependent on my parents. They never directly said it , but I think another huge reason is the fact that I'm white. Reverse discrimination runs rampid in the financial aid system. My friend from Vietnam gets all kinds of financial aid and his parents make more than mine.

yea.. that's what i had to send in, my mom's signature (slightly forged  ) i submitted thru online, but they wanted my moms sig, dad's dead, but she dont make any money, so i know i'm 'eligable for aid' but they dont tell you shit other than that... it's so gay...
