the winter is so much better than the summer

i just love being able to wear a jacket all the time, they are so utilitarian.

no thanks. i prefer the summer way more. i love the feel of the hot sun on my skin. and i like to go everywhere i can in surfshorts and slippers.

Winter's ok. I like the cold and the snow, and winter backpacking is awesome. What I don't like is the darkness, we don't get that much daylight up here in winter. Makes me really depressed each time for two months or so.

I assume you live in place that doesnt get too cold? I mean, up here in Chicago the winters are miserable.

I live in Michigan, and all Winter my bones ache.


I've worn long pants and a long sleeve shirt all summer.

I'll be moving to florida in a few years.

I love winter. I prefer cold over heat. I love snow. I love the dead silence of a fresh snow fall, the echoey sound in the distance. I like wearing jackets too. And my toque.

I definitely prefer the summer. I hate being cold and I have bad circulation so when I'm always freezing.

Thats where I'm at. It's like we're living in New Orleans with this humidity.

Just always covered in a layer of muggy, sweat.

But, I am a summer guy. I love to be warm. I'm just not built to handle the cold too well.

I think Ummikko lives in Finland (well, you can see it below his avatar) and in here it gets quite cold in winter. I live in southern Finland and it gets easily -20 degrees celsius or worse in February. So yeah, it can get cold in here. But it's all about the attitude (and clothing). :evil:

I like winter. I just hate the color white. It's really annoying when everything is white and there are no real colors anywhere. Just white and off-white. Dull, boring and dark (because the sun won't show up a lot).

Holy shit, that is some cold weather.

I think the coldest I've been in was just 5 degrees F.  But, that was still more than cold enough for me. 

I need to build up a layer of insulating fat, like a Polar Bear.  Besides Polar Bears are badass.

its awful here in chattanooga, a big valley with a river running through it, its like a hot plate with a pubble of water in the middle. The humidity never leaves!

cold is way better, you can always warm up instantly when you walk in a heated room, but it takes a minute to sufficiently cool down.

Exactly. Waking up 20 minutes early to warm up my car and dig it out of its icy tomb isn't my idea of fun. You'll hate winter the moment you have to wake up to an archaeological dig!

That's just the beginning... driving almost sucks as much as the preperation.
