Is it true
    #4483918 - 08/02/05 02:48 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

The North star, the ONLY star in the sky that does not move, steady.
Can it be so, the North star so steady?
Maybe it's time to study astrology

Hi there.

--------------------
Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

the "north star" is a hypothetical point at which the rotation of the
starscape seems to center. Just happens to be a star there that's
fairly bright.

But since all things are in motion, it can only truly be the north star for
as long as it takes to traverse that point. Which can't be more than,
say, 500 years. Tops.

It's helpful, but I was thinking of something along the lines of

The jones comes in late at night
It huts with a terrible bite
They don't come knockin' on my door
Or slink across the greasy floor

CHORUS:
I'm up on the roof again
Watchin' the sparklers dance and play
Up on the roof again
Please don't take my ladder away(3x)

The jones it likes to call my name
Ain't got no one else for to blame
It grabs me by the shorty hairs
And drags me damn near everywhere

Repeat chorus
Repeat second verse
Repeat chorus

Les Claypool is the man

Most wonderful, this is true? The stars move like oceans upon us, in my country they say the stars never die.
And each night I'll watch one fall, till the last spins from souls before me.
500 years, what time grants me?

The North Star is just a star that happens to be aligned with the axis of earth's rotation. Because of this, the star doesn't change its position in the sky, while other stars appear to rotate around it.

No it's not true, the north star changes with time.

Quote:

Right now, the Earth's rotation axis happens to be pointing almost exactly at Polaris. But in the year 3000 B.C., the North Star was a star called Thuban (also known as Alpha Draconis), and in about 13,000 years from now the precession of the rotation axis will mean that the bright star Vega will be the North Star. Don't feel bad for Polaris, however, because in 26,000 more years it will once again be the Pole Star!

Well that's one more fact to add in favor of simulation theory.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Psalm 12:6
The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Hebrews 11:3
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Revelation 3:11
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
