Not true. Making an illegal search is a Federal crime. Also, one can sue for damages caused by an illegal search. In addition, the officer is subject to disciplinary action by internal affairs if caught doing an illegal search. Just because few people would bother to seek legal recourse against an illegal search if nothing was found does not mean that there is "no consequence whatsoever".

i think its legal. Cause if he wanted too he could have arrested you all and then searched. He was being nice to u guys
