Did anyone catch this HBO standup? I didn't think it was very funny until he got to the presription pill/food/NASCAR bits.

I didn't think that it was on HBO yet, I thought it was mid August or something? I saw the last one though and it was funny as hell. I can't wait for Real Time to come back though.

Yeah he's really not that funny. His show is alright because he has a lot of good guests, but him by himself, I wouldn't care to see at all. He's just a commentator. Talks about stuff. Not really comedy.

His special wasn't so much comedy as dead-on commentary. He truly gets it right on most things, although nobody's perfect.

His thoughts on our diet were especially amusing.

I taped it last night off og HBO and It was pretty cool once he went off on bush, nascar and drug use in America and the world.

And the 911 trip was cool about Bush. It was broadcast early in February or March so the news was a little old.

Still he mentioned shrooms.

I learned of Bill Maher about 15 years ago when I turned cable on at three in the morning and he was telling a mushroom story about pickers on a Texas farm sticking their hands in that cow shit (said with an accent). Sometimes his talk show on HBO is cool depending onthe guests.

SO dar this years best comedy show was the 20 year anniversary show of Whoopies, where she also went off on Bush.

I've taped every single Bill Maher stand up special since his HBO "One Night Stand" show in the late 80's. I'm a big fan. He's my favorite living comedian and my second favorite comedian ever, behind Bill Hicks. I thought "I'm Swiss" was fucking brilliant. My friend taped this show for me. When she gave me the tape, I proceeded to watch the special twice in a row. As usual, he was almost completely right on about everything he discussed. I don't know how everyone else in this thread didn't like it. That's crazy talk.

I'm definitely excited about the new season of "Real Time" starting August 18th. I also can't wait for the audio version of his new book "New Rules" to hit the file sharing circuit.
