Learning from books about physical things is great.

I love to read cultivation and technical books, for example.

But to think that books are the key to things spiritual, or that everything which exists is written somewhere in a book, or that you can affirmatively deny someone else's experiences to their face, because of something you read in some book is the ultimate in foolishness.

nice collection of quotes, but the fact of the matter is that
if you take the sum of all historical accounts, you are able
to find the median and be fairly certain about what went
on.

to refuse history because you would rather believe some
literary quote than the fact that people were burned on
the stake then you are simply doomed to repeat the same
fate.

there is always subjectivity in history books, but to dismiss
them outright is ludicrous.

living in the moment is healthier for the sould, but discarding
history outright leaves you open to it repeating itself.

human kind will not progress without understanding its history
and moving forward from it.

with no history, you are just a point floating in space with
little hope of appreciable progression.
