MycoBag Thread
    #1649037 -

I feel its a time that everyone out there who has worked with or knows a great deal about mycobags to write a few tips. Mycobags are a great start for newbies (such as myself) because they're painless and easy. Still, there are many frequently asked questions that keep popping up. My current setup is I have four mycobags sitting on a sunbeam heating pad which is covered by a towel. All of this is sitting in a cardboard box and in a dark space. I innoculated 10 days ago with no apparent change. Hopefully some mycelium starts to form in the next week or so. Anyways, is there anything I can do to promote mycelium growth? Remember this thread is for anything relating to mycobags. So post away! ;D

What's ur temp? Keep it around 82f and wait. I didn't see anything for about a month. Got tired of waiting and switched to pf tek for simple minds and forgot about the bags. When I looked at them 3-4 wks later, WaBoom!! The hawaiian bag is about 80-90% colonized and the other bag is about 50%. If your patience is short go w/ jars cause the bags can be a bitch to wait on.

Oh, another thing I just realized. My four mycobags are straw/manure based. (Even though I ordered grain based I didn't see this as a problem). I innoculated them with Orissa, will they have any problem colonizing straw/manure?

Yeah i'm not sure what temp they're at but I'm pretty sure its around 80-85. *its on a heating pad with a towel buffer*  I'm not impatient, I'm just to worried that something is going to go wrong.  As soon as I see some mycelium I'll rest much easier .

as soon you got some myc. give a massage to your bags.
that's gonna mix all the myc. around and will boost your growing...

Thats your problem right there, your bags are manure/straw based. Your spores will have a hard time germinating on this mixture, its possible that they may not germinate at all.

Keep in mind that you inocculated a very large amount of substrate. that willl increase your time for it to colonate and go through its whole cycle. I think if you have some patience and jsut give it some time your bag will produce.

I am sorry your order was in error. Contact orders@mycobag.com and mention this and make sure to include your order number and it will be corrected.

As far as the straw based goes they will be slower than normal because they are intended to be used with LIVE culture syringes. Give it time and it should be ok.

This thread shows one way to use the Straw Based Mycobag, it is not the only use for them, just one example some may not have considered.

Ok, i'll give you guys an e-mail. I didn't think it would make that big of a difference but I probably should have checked. Will I have to have the original bags in the condition they were shipped in? *I already innoculated* Thx for the help.

Keep them and see what happens. They may indeed be fine and just slow. I hate you were shipped the wrong mix.

Hey I am a newbie to this and I am about to order a MycoBag and I want to make sure that I will order the right one. I have some PC Equador shroom shrooms to grow. Which substrate bag should I get and at which temperature do I need to keep the bag? Thanks!

Myself, i have been fooling around with making my own substrate mixture using bags, and then fruiting directly in the bags, if you mix 1/3 horse manure, 1/3vermiculite and 1/3 simmered rye, then add water to where you have to squeeze the living crap out of the mixture in order to get like one droplet, then add this mixture to the bags at 2.5qts per bag, seal, pc for 2 hours @15psi, let cool, inject with spores or live culture at 10ml per bag, you can get colonization in about2-3 weeks, and at minimum an ounce of shrooms. Enjoy, i fyou want further calrification just ask.
