Star-Spangled Banner irony
    #4435810 -

So I just found out that the American national anthem was written during the war of 1812, against the British...but is sung to the tune of an old British song!

I dunno, I just find that ironic :smirk:

--------------------
Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free.
But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

haha, that's like finding it ironic that English is spoken in Cananda and the US. Or ironic that the g8 are the axis powers and the allies. cultural influences don't change just because government does.

edit: it is actually sung to the tune of a british bar song. which was probably sung in america at the time.
