You're damn right the oompa loompas were in the book. Both the books were fucking great when I was a kid, I'd like to read em again

It was a good movie but not as special as I was waiting it to be, being overexcited about a book I read as a kid being transformed by tim burton with depp as a bonus, I had way too high expectations and that didnt work out to be too good.

A friend of mine just recently saw it and said it was very good. He said that it was fucking weird but I personally think Depp is a great actor and has done many good movies. IE: Benny and Joon, Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean, From Hell, Sleepy Hollow.

I'm looking forward to seeing it.

It looks trippy, from the trailer it looks awesome! I like Tim Burtons movies as well as Johnny Depp....I seen those candy Aminita Muscarias...umm umm good!! :mushroom2: :rolleyes: :tongue2:

Tim Burton has done some very cool films indeed (Beetlejuice!) and Johnny Depp has starred in some very cool films (Edward Scissorhands!). This is a movie I've seriously been looking forward to seeing for about 2 years now. Anyway, I saw a trailor for it and it looked t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e. Maybe that's just because of my built up expectations? Though I didn't really think I had any, I just expected something a bit different. I know I can't judge from the trailor (really) but you can get a pretty good idea. The way Wonka is portrayed doesn't seem right, in fact that's one of the biggest let downs, he's meant to be sinister? That's fine but he really doesn't seem it at all, with his high pitched voice and the silly things that he says, he seems more comical. And the look, the look is all wrong, looks too like the old wonka but less kooky. The umpalumpas (played by one guy - why?) looked shite compared to the green haired orange faced other ones! All of the scenes looked very similar to the original film also, they're meant to have spent loads on this, and the old movie is probably more effective. I dunno...um I've kinda ranted a bit haven't I guess really though, I'm not qualified to say till I've watched it. Heh.

I saw the movie today and I thought it was fantastic.  I'm going to see it again before it leaves theatres.  It gets my :thumbup: :thumbup:.

yea the wonka carrecter is very weak indeed. i guess they changed it so it could appeal to children more maybe, as they were complaining the first movie being too dark. I dont think the balance was caught here...

I thought the old one was stupid, and the technology looked retarded...I like Johnny Depp..this one looks like a shroom trip..compared to the old boring one...

Looked stupid how...? Don't you remember the scene where the kids are in the boat with Wonka, and everything goes all brightly coloured and mad, that looked like a shroom trip! And Wonka was really creepy, when he kepy chanting away in that bit! Probably more so than Depp's Wonka by the looks. That film must be pretty old now too, anyone know how old exactly? Gotta be 20 years at least. I reckon it looked rather good for its time. Burton seems to have stolen the shroomey trip idea, thought it'd fit in with his "weird director" agenda and splash it all over the new film. To be honest Burton's Big Fish was a bit of a let down as well. But anyway. Just comparing it to the glimpses of the scenes I've seen in the new movie, my mind particularly sticking on the bit where the boy gets trapped in the TV and everything is bright white and they all have to where those shade things, well it looked just the same if not crapper than the older version, from what I saw anyway. Oh and that bit in the old movie where Charlie and his Grandad were in that like bubble machine thing, that looked wicked! Ahhhhh.
