I learned a lesson this year. I'll be hitting up more small festivals next year, rather than Bonnaroo.

You'd have to twist your mind into some funny aversive states to seriously not enjoy bonnaroo.

Bonnaroo isn't being bought out by MTV or anyone else, superfly will be in charge until Bonnaroo's end. Last there was some rumor about them being bought out by some other big group and that of course was total bullshit. I have gone in 2004 and 2005, and I thought they did a GREAT job promoting their sponsors. Not all in your face and signs everywhere, the sponsors also provided cool things to do. Kind of going off of the topic at hand, but some people need to remember that the only way these huge festivals can happen is by sponsorship from companies, doesn't bother me. But no, MTV isn't buying out superfly, why would they? Superfly is making enough money on their own, they have a good thing going. And by the way, if you want to see an overly commercialized festival, go to ACL fest. The only thing that will make bonnaroo shitty is the shitty scene these days, shady lot kids and preps looking for drunken fights (one of them tried to start shit with me this year).

The same people who bitch about there being advertising at Bonnaroo are likely the same people who sit around watching 8 hours of tv a day, being subjected to about 4 hours of advertising.
I would rather there be limited advertising there if it means it's a safe and fun festival. It's not like you have to buy anything they are selling or even pay attention to it. It's up to you.

As someone who had the [somewhat] misfortune of attending Woodstock '99 on the third day (the one with all the rioting), Bonnaroo has almost no advertising by comparison. For instance, there is no advertising on the stages. There aren't banners on every fence. They've done a good job to keep the commercialism at a bare minimum. On the other hand, people are always trying to sell you stuff on the streets, but that's something completely different.

Woodstock '99 was only 40 minutes from my front door. We (my uncle and myself) went and checked out the lot, I was only 14 at the time. Smoked a J and met some cool peoples. My uncle is good buddies with a couple of the DJ's from KRock (94.9fm in CNY) he got a free pass and went in with them on the second and third day. After they tipped a car over and lit it on fire the radio station decided to get the fuck out of there. My uncle stayed a bit longer though and watched the turmoil unfold. It was a real shitty scene. The people were being treated like dogs. Bottles of water were going for like $5.00 - $7.00 a piece and there were no wheres close to enough bathrooms. The ones that were there were unsanitary. By the end of the third day everybody was in a fucking uproar and everything was on fire. I don't blame them one bit.

no I hope not!! because it would be too much media, then there would be too many cops around watching everyone for everything, well even more then usual...then the anti-drug people would protest against stuff like this..and it would eventually get cancelled...

yeah, i don't think so. if that happened, bonnaroo would die. MTV needs to go bankrupt and disappear.
